Other than the basketball, football, and frisbee events, there’s going to be a volleyball event as well in the first Ateneo Open Tournament 2011 happening this October 15 and 16 (Sat/Sun) at Ateneo de Manila College Covered courts.
Entry fee per team for the volleyball event is P3,000. Reserve a slot now by visiting this page.
This 2-day league is being organized by the Ateneo Volleyball Club (AVC) and Women’s Basketball Club of Ateneo which seek to raise funds for the Ateneo Alumni Scholars Association. This will benefit the future scholars of the school.
This kind of weekend volleyball tournaments are ideal for those recreational volleyball groups out there who wants to get a chance to compete and meet with other fellow volleyball groups. And since there are cash prizes, this can be a means to generate funds as well. The only problem I see is the fact that it’s literally “open” to any teams and/or players regardless of level of play. So expect a few hard-core volleyball teams who play for money to join.

Jed was also a candidate for the FHM 100 Sexiest Women edition. Here’s a sneak peek of the interview in the July 2011 issue of FHM that features Jed Montero, taken from www.fhm.com.ph site:Read more

More and more athletes are using therapeutic tapes nowadays. In volleyball, players usually tape the shoulder area as well as the knees and elbows as these are the frequently injured and strained body parts. There are several therapeutic tape brands available in the Philippine market today and you can buy them at sports shops like Chris Sports, Toby’s, and Olympic Village. Muscle Tape (costs around P650 per roll) is perhaps the most widely used locally because its made of high quality material but at the same time, it’s cheaper than the US brands.
