The Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) needs around 6 million pesos to host the 7th Asian Girl’s Volleyball on October 11-18, 2008 at the Philsports Arena.
PVF is grateful certain groups and individuals are pouring in their resources to make it possible, even the amount needed is yet to come.
PVF secretary-general Otie Camangian is optimistic the amount needed will be raised just in time the tournament starts, since this is the second time in three years our country will be hosting it.
“We are happy there are certain individuals expressed their desire to help us financially in hosting the event like former Congressman (Prospero) Pichay and Senator (Kiko) Pangilinan,” said Camangian in yesterday’s PSA Forum at the Shakey’s U.N. Avenue branch.
“PVF are still discussing with some major sponsors on how they can help in the hosting of the meet.” according to Camagian.
PVF president Pedro Mendoza and the board recently appointed Prospero Pichay as chairman of the executive committee, while Senator Francis Pangilinan was appointed honorary chairman of the eight-day event.
Aside from sponsorships, PVF will also get some support from the entry fee to be collected from participating teams amounting $ 900 each.
The 6 million pesos budget will be used for accommodation, transportation, referees’ fees, foods and other important expenses, Camangian added in the same public sports program sponsored by Shakey’s, Accel, Brickroad gym and Aspen spa and MedCentral Medical Clinic and Diagnostic Center.
The 12 competing teams will be divided into four groups with the Philippines bracketed in Group A along with Australia and Sri Lanka.
