Rumors of the Philippines hosting the Grand Prix in Cebu in the near future spurted out from Volleywood.net and now, I see the article being spread all over Facebook accounts – thanks to the like and recommend buttons. Mr. Ace Asas, the man behind the international volleyball site, confirms this to be very likely to happen and in fact his “source” (who is very reliable and apparently very secret as well) says that the deal between the FIVB and Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) is currently being negotiated. Let’s hope the Philippines gets this opportunity once chance.
The FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix is the premier annual women’s global volleyball tournament that features 16 teams. This 2011, Macau is hosting the Grand Prix finals happening this August. About ten years ago, a leg as well as the finals match of the Grand Prix were staged at the Philsports Arena and Araneta Coliseum in Manila, Philippines. Leila Barros was adored by the Filipino fans back then.
