Did you miss watching the greatest upset (so far) in UAAP 73 Women’s Volleyball? I knew it wouldn’t take long for someone to take the time and effort to watch the replay, record it, and upload the entire match on YouTube.
We’re talking about the game between UST and UP where the UP Lady Maroons stepped up big time and beat defending champs UST. It was an awesome match! After losing set 1, the Tigresses were so shocked I never saw Aiza Maizo smile (no even a smirk!) all throughout the game. UP on the other hand played with all heart (and fired up emotions!) and was able to sustain it ’til the end to eventually snatch the match. Open spikers Carmela Lopez and Angeli Araneta did the most damage with 16 and 14 points respectively.
November 28, 2010. 3rd Viking Cup, day 2. Venue at WCC gym along Aurora Blvd, Cubao. In the men’s division, Team Spikeithard lost to Team YBR in 3 sets. As for Team Spikeithard (women’s), they won against Adik Volleyball Club in 3 sets.
Thank you to everyone who participated during our team try-outs. Team Spikeithard men’s and women’s teams will be joining the 3rd Viking Cup tournament this November. To those who did not make it to the lineup, you will always be welcomed to join and train with the team every Saturdays. We usually send invites via Facebook. Rachel Anne Daquis dubbed by US Girls host Iya Villania as the queen of volleyball was featured in the show sometime last summer. Who is prettier, Rachel or Iya? Hmmm…

I know it does not seem too manly for a guy like me watching US Girls on Studio 23, but I really love that show so whenever I catch it on TV, I get hooked. (Hey, I also watch Sports Unlimited.) A few months ago, FEU volleyball superstar Rachel Anne Daquis was featured in the show.

It’s was summer (back then in April) and Rachel sought the help of US Girls in choosing which bikini would be the most bagay for her — as if there’s any bikini out there that would not look good on Rachel. The viewers were asked to log onto the official Multiply site of US Girls over at to see the photos of Rachel and vote for their favorite bikini for her.

We all miss these two teams: the UST and FEU Women’s Volleyball. The last time the Lady Tigers reigned supreme was when they won back to back championship crowns during the Shakey’s V-League Season 4 Second Conference and UAAP Volleyball Season 69. They were unstoppable during those days. As for the Lady Tamaraws, UAAP Season 70 was their time to shine as they defeated Adamson to win during the finals.
