Thanks to all who answered Patti’s survey

Former Ateneo Lady Ealge Patti Taganas writes…

Hi Sir Marc,

I’ve been meaning to tell you, I got an A for my STRAMA (thesis), and I graduated last August 2 with honors. I just wanted to say thank you, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your help, with the survey and all. God bless and more power to the Spike It Hard blog.

Thanks again,

Patti Taganas

Thanks to all those folks who answered Patti’s survey on the Shakey’s V-League fan base. I think there were around 150 good souls who took the time and answered the survey. All the data we have provided were used by Patti for her thesis.

So Patti, what have you learned about the fan base of the Shakey’s V-League from your study? Maybe you can share whatever insights you gained from all this.

85th NCAA Volleyball settles for EAC gymnasium as venue

NCAA school logos

A month ago, the NCAA folks were undecided as to where to hold the 85th NCAA Volleyball tournament. Earlier, discussion between the NCAA board and its partner Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) suggested the use of Rizal Memorial Sports Complex at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium as the official venue. But due to cost constraints, the NCAA had to break this deal off and decided to officially hold the volleyball games at the Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) gymnasium. Here’s a short announcement taken from the official http://ncaa.org.ph/ website:

Watch out for the SmartBRO UAAP athlete endorsers

Gretchen Ho (ADMU) and Jed Montero (UP)

I was updating my Facebook account when I stumbled upon this Facebook fan page entitled “SmartBRO UAAP”. Apparently, SmarBRO will power the brightest stars in this season’s UAAP games. The account shows some behind-the-scenes shots from the photoshoot featuring a variety of UAAP athletes. Don’t be surprised to see billboards or posters or even TV commercials (I hope) featuring your favorite UAAP superstars in the near future being promoted by SmartBRO.

Of course, what caught my attention while I was browsing through the pages of this SmartBRO Facebook account were the UAAP Volleyball athlete endorsers!! Here’s a list of all the UAAP athletes who are part of this campaign. Take note of those volleyball athletes in the list:

For those of you like me who won’t be able to watch the Shakey’s V-League championship game 3 today at The Arena in San Juan between University of Santo Tomas and San Sebastian College-Recoletos, we can just watch it live from our PCs!!! I’ve been out of the loop for quite some time now so I’m sure you guys already know by now that the folks over at the official www.v-league.ph website came up with a Live Webcast page where we can all watch the finals game (as well as the previous ones from the archives) via live video streaming.

Finals Game1 – SSC defeated UST in 3 sets: 25-17, 25-22, 25-19
Finals Game2 – UST defeated SSC in 3 sets: 25-21, 25-22, 25-23
Finals Game3 – TODAY!!!

You can catch the live webcast over at http://www.v-league.ph/webcast/ where all the fans should already be tuned in by now. But if you are finding it hard to load the page probably because of the heavy traffic caused by the thousands of live webcast viewers, you can also watch is directly at their www.justin.tv/vleague/ page. Or…

Note too sure if this will work, but I have also tried embedding the Live Webcast over at Spikeithard.com in this blog post so you can also watch it here. So who do you think will win, UST or SSC?

Rachel Daquis featured in US Girls on Studio23

UPDATE: You can now watch the whole US Girls segment featuring Rachel Daquis here.

I know it does not seem too manly for a guy like me watching US Girls on Studio 23, but I really love that show so whenever I catch it on TV, I get hooked. (Hey, I also watch Sports Unlimited.) A few months ago, FEU volleyball superstar Rachel Anne Daquis was featured in the show.

Vote for your favorite bikini for Rachel Daquis

It’s was summer (back then in April) and Rachel sought the help of US Girls in choosing which bikini would be the most bagay for her — as if there’s any bikini out there that would not look good on Rachel. The viewers were asked to log onto the official Multiply site of US Girls over at to see the photos of Rachel and vote for their favorite bikini for her.

From www.usgirls23.multiply.com:

Hello Rachel Daquis’ fans out there!
Rachel needs your help in choosing the best swimwear for her this summer.
Choose your pick and tell us why. :)

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the later episodes and did not know which bikini won. Anybody knows? In any case, why don’t we just redo this vote-for-your-favorite-bikini contest over here at Spikeithard.com and determine which bikini looks the hottest on Rachel Anne Daquis. Here are the photos. Don’t forget to vote via the online polling at the end of this blog post.
