Jirah Llaneta to make her BIG DECISION soon

In volleyball’s recruiting wars, one player stood out among all high school players. This is none other than Jirah Llaneta of Perpetual Help – Molino. A 5’7 1/2 outside hitter, she has amazed UAAP and NCAA coaches with her hang time and leaping ability as well as her ability to score both using power and smart attacks and through very sharp service aces.

In the recently concluded STCAA (Southern Tagalog Calabarzon Athletic Association), among all coaches who talked to her, FEU and UST are the most aggressive, with the coaches promising her a first six slot in the team next season. The coaches of  ADU and NU are also constantly talking to her. She has likewise trained with both the UAAP Season 74 finalists DLSU and ADMU and has impressed both coaches.

85th NCAA Volleyball quarterfinals Games 2 & 3 moved to Oct. 6 & 8

For those of you who are watching the NCAA Volleyball Season 85 games, note that there has been some changes in the game schedule due to typhoon Pepeng. Games are held at the EAC gym (Emilio Aguinaldo College). And looks like the Finals matches will be aired live over at Studio23. Here’s the announcement:

RE: 85th Volleyball Provisional Schedule For Second Round

As earlier announced to the participating team coaches and technical officials during Game 1 today, and in view of the coming Typhoon Pepeng, for the safety of the participants of the quarter final round of the 85th NCAA Volleyball Season, Games 2 & 3 slated on October 3 & 4 (Saturday & Sunday) respectively is moved to October 6 and 8, 2009, with the same playing time starting at 8AM.

Tickets dated on the postponed game days October 3 & 4 shall be honored on the playing dates October 6 and 8, 2009…

85th NCAA Volleyball settles for EAC gymnasium as venue

A month ago, the NCAA folks were undecided as to where to hold the 85th NCAA Volleyball tournament. Earlier, discussion between the NCAA board and its partner Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) suggested the use of Rizal Memorial Sports Complex at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium as the official venue. But due to cost constraints, the NCAA had to break this deal off and decided to officially hold the volleyball games at the Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) gymnasium. SSC-R Women’s and SBC Men’s lead in the final four race of the 84th NCAA

After the first round eliminations, San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSC-R) women’s and San Beda College (SBC) men’s volleyball leads in the standings of the 84th NCAA Volleyball competition. Both teams are now enjoying the final four race without losing a game. Colegio San Juan de Letran, 83rd NCAA men’s champion, are second in the standings with a 8-1 (win-loss); only loss was to SBC in the 1st round. The 2nd round eliminations began last August 12, 2008 and will end on September 6, 2008. The final four will be starting on September 9, 2008. After the conclusion of Shakey’s V-League Season 5 and 2008 National Open, the collegiate volleyball season have just started. The 84th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Volleyball Tournament started with a simple opening ceremony in San Beda College (SBC) gymnasium last July 12, 2008. Seven teams paraded with their respective juniors, women’s, and men’s volleyball players together.
