1st Celeste Bayanihan Cup: 5-day beach volleyball tournament in Bolinao, Pangasinan

Summer is almost over. If you missed that company or family outing, then here’s a beach volleyball tournament you may wanna check out. The office of Congressman Jesus “Boying” F. Celeste is holding the 1st Celeste Bayanihan Cup Beach Volleyball Tournament, a 5-day beach volleyball tournament happening this May 26-23, 20011 in Bolinao, Pangasinan.

With a Kampihan para sa Kalikasan theme, this beach volleyball tournament is intended to help sustain the reforestation efforts in the first district of Pangasinan.

This 5-day tournament will use a single round elimination format until the top four teams remain to battle it out for the 1st to 4th place finish. Each team will be limited to 2 players and 1 coach.

Registration is actually already over at this point (March 26 to May 12). Each officially registered team will be entitled to the following:

  • Free 5 day accommodation (not including food)
  • Event t-shirt for each player and coach
  • Participant medal for each player and coach
  • Free transportation from Metro Manila to Bolinao and back
  • One tree to be named in honor of each player and coach
  • Free tour of the Celeste Haven Man Made Forest
  • A chance to win exciting items in the raffle draw

The top four teams will receive the following: Champion – P25,000 plus trophy; 2nd placer – P15,000 plus trophy; 3rd placer – P10,000 plus plaque; 4th placer – P5,000 plus plaque.

– Tandem of Angela Benting and Pau Soriano, coached by Dulce Pante
– Adamson has committed to fielding in a total of 6 teams
– FEU will be fielding 2 teams
– Most teams are barangay based, most are from Bulacan
– La Salle Benilde will send a team (men’s)
– maximum of 50 teams each for men’s and women’s divisions

UPDATE: This beach volley tournament has been postponed. From the organizers – due to the renovations being done on the venue the event has been rescheduled for summer of next year. Early bird rate is extended until Dec. 31, 2011.
