Globe Run for Home happens tomorrow!!!

Several weeks ago, I sprained my left ankle while playing volleyball at the Gator’s Center (lower basement of the Makati Stock Exchange). You can contact Sandy Bediones if you wanna join. Because of that injury, I wasn’t really able to do any serious practice runs in preparation for the first ever race event to use disposable electronic timing chipsGlobe Run for Home on July 19. That’s tomorrow!

Globe Run for Home

The ‘Run for Home’: The Globe-Ayala Land City Run for Habitat for Humanity will take place this July 19 at the Bonifacio Global City. Assembly time will be as early as 4:40am for the 21-k event. This will be the first to use disposable electronic timing chips called Champion Chips to be given to all participants to track running time. Participants choose between 3-kilometer, 5-kilometer, 10-kilometer, or 21-kilometer races to help build homes through Habitat for Humanity to benefit the Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig Project.

These disposable Champion Chips that you secure on your shoe will accurately record the runner’s actual start and finish times. No need to fall in line anymore at the end of the race so the race marshals can manually track your time. This Globe-sponsored event is being organized by Vince Mendoza and Coach Rio de la Cruz of Finish Line. I’ll be race bib# 3811 for the 10-k event while my wife Gail will be race bib# 751 joining the 3-k race.
