International Kakis Volleyball Team-Singapore: open volleyball try-outs for Pinoys

This blog has been a very popular source of volleyball information, updates, news, and anything that is practically about the game we all love. I was even shocked when I learned that some of my friends from Singapore and Malaysia visit Spikeithard.com to learn what’s going on in the volleyball world. I did not expect that this blog was already that famous.

It has been two months since I arrived here in Singapore. And I flew here not to work but to try-out for International Kakis Volleyball Team-Singapore. Getting in the team means having the privilege to play in international volleyball tournaments. Mr. Samuel Wong heads and coaches the team.

International Kakis Volleyball Team (Singapore)

You can learn more about Team Kakis from there http://www.internationalkakis.com/ website. To give you an idea, here’s what they do (taken from their website):

Mission:
1. Mass participation
2. Raise the level of play
3. Promote the game volleyball within the region.

International Kakis Volleyball Sport Club is a non profit making volleyball sport club located in Singapore and registered with the Volleyball Association of Singapore. The objectives of having this club is to provide a place for the foreign and local volleyball players to train and play and this will eventually benefit and improve the skill level of the local players. This will also allow the foreign volleyball players to continue playing volleyball while they are staying, working or studying in Singapore.

Wow Alvin! I am so impressed with you had done for 2 months staying in Singapore. You are right that you used to be one of the tall guys in our ADMU group, but with the photos you posted, it seems you are hobbit. I’m glad that they still look up at us even you had lost the glamour in volleyball. I hope through this site, alot of Pinoys will be inspired to try out there and still excel in it. There is still a chance for Pinoys to excel globally in volleyball.

Good luck to you. We, your ADMU group, are proud of you.

Take note that International Kakis Team is IN SINGAPORE ha! So you gotta be living there.. And you should have volleyball experience at least I believe. Kasi mukang super competitive mga players dyan… Goodluck to all the Pinoy volleyball players around the world!

How I wish we can develop a volleyball club that will be something similar to International Kakis over here in the Philippines. Looks like something like this needs a lot of financial backing… gulp…

Thank you guys for the support, Yes, we do have a girls team, our girls team is like the UST WVT difference is our girls are taller and faster….most of our girls came from japan and germany, for the first time we will be having a Filipina in our team, her name is kat and she came from La Salle…Thank you very much guys and more power to Spikeithard…THanks RMA…hehe

i just saw it,alvin josefh fernandez,180 cms,i really believe we got the IT factor only that we lack the height advantage, like me,i am a talented spiker but i’m only 5′5 so the moment the ball gets too far from the net,i have to resort to a different shot from the one i’ve planned because the ball will surely catch the net if i dont..so that’s it,for the Philippines to become internationally renowned,we had to recruit the tallest and easieast to be taught Filipinos to play volleyball,or import Phil-Am volleyball players hehehe..

tapos naba yung try out sa mga guys

We Do have a leisure group that plays every monday…for the TEAM..the Requirements depend on your position inside the court…..but the least would be a college varsitarian…for outside hitters you may be not that tall but you must be really good for you to compete with the thai guy..for center players at least 6 ft and really played as a fast ball guy…for Subsetter/Utility like me…you must know at least how to set and spike from that position…setter/libero would depend on their skills…

Where’s the venue for the leisure group? Can I just walk in and join? can you email me? eeeloi2000@yahoo.com. thanks.

thanks a lot man….i will…im working hard on improving more….

Way to go Alvin. Feel like a hobbit ya ??? Like they say in Singapore … sure or not ??? :)

Anyway, good piece there and I am sure it will help boost abit on IK’s popularity. Come on friends from Philippines, we need more of you to make an impact here, otherwise the state of volleyball over here is really pityfull. Lack of facilities, mostly outdoors. And there is very little promotions/support on Volleyball. Most of the interest is at the beach where the babes are to attract the crowd.

I read some of the blogs on this site and was very impressed that you guys have so many leagues. Kudos.

Keep it up, spike it hard !

Guys, Thanks a lot for the support….we have some filipino try outs now and we hope they can make it to the team…i know filipinos will soon regain the volleyball crown in SEA…and we better start from these kind of teams to make Pinoys popular with the sport….Those who are still interested to play or join…you can email me at aljo_15@yahoo.com ….ciao

i believe that we all have same sentiments when it comes to volleyball..nakakalungkot kasi konti lang interested to come out and play..sana we can have facilities kung saan we can nurture young individuals who wants to learn volleyball..i am already 37y/o and still playing volleyball..nasa dugo ko na..i am here in bulacan and we(friends who also love volleyball)are trying our best to give this sport a push para makilala dito sa bulacan(pulilan).kung meron sana kami malalapitan to help us in promoting volleyball here in bulacan..i love volleyball and i will continue playing til i die..hehehehehe…

wow,ako naman newbie lang pero at age of 20,average lang ang skills ng alam ng bata sa lugar namin kaya trying too teach them proper basics and advanced skills para naman hindi laro laro lang ang volleyball sa kanila kung di isang technical sports, wow

way to go ALVINA! i hope you remember me pa. anyway its nice to see filipinos excelling in volleyball overseas but on the other side sad for our country kasi maraming mga potential players pero kulang lang sa support kaya some of them try their luck outside of our country. but we’re proud of you and hope you could bring honor to our country
