Far Eastern University (FEU) women’s won their second straight title as Anna Abanto and Marigail Tolentino completed a seven-game sweep over Ateneo’s Asia Urquico and Jessica Morado with an emphatic 21-8, 21-10 win at the end of the UAAP beach volleyball tournament at the UE Caloocan sand courts yesterday.
“Nagbunga lahat ng dalawang buwan na paghahanda namin. Nagsilbing inspirasyon namin sina Wendy Semana at Shaira Gonzalez (UAAP 70 champions),” said Abanto, who was named as tournament Most Valuable Player.
Meanwhile, University of Santo Tomas (UST) clinched its first men’s beach volleyball title after eventual MVP James Pecana and Jayson Ramos defeated Alvin Padilla and Mark Dalag of the University of the East (UE), 21-13, 21-16, for a perfect 7-0 card.
“Maganda ang bonding namin ni Jayson (Ramos) kaya maganda ang teamwork namin the whole season,” Pecana said .
The Red Skirts settled for second place with a 6-1 mark, while the Tigresses finished third with a 5-2 card.
UAAP 70 men’s titlist Tamaraws took runner-up honors with a 6-1 record after Joshua Alcarde and Nestor Molate tripped Carl Vitug and Froilan Pantone of Adamson, 21-15, 22-20.
The Falcons took third place with a 5-2 slate.
La Salle’s Melissa Gohing and Ramon Lucindo of UP were adjudged as the year’s top rookie in the women’s and men’s division, respectively.

its true sad to know the first six who made the victory last UAAP 70 was vanished..sobrang nakaka miss ung team up na un:namely(daquis,morada,cafranca,abanto,semana &taganas)..they really made the history last year..Hope seeing them again..specially ABANTO&CAFRANCA=Hope to see you guys!
