Petron Treats Boy’s Volleyball League Season 2

When you hear ‘beach volleyball’, the first thing that pops into your mind is Nestea Beach Volleyball (right?). What’s the second? It’s Petron Ladies’ Beach Volleyball which is becoming more and more popular in the local beach volleyball arena. Volleyball tournaments like these are bound to get bigger and better every year. Thanks to big companies like Petron (Nestea and Shakey’s too) for supporting grass-roots volleyball events like these in the country.

Emanating from the success of its beach volleyball tournament, Petron also helped in the establishment of the Petron Treats Boys’ Volleyball League which started back in 2006 (if I’m not mistaken). This league is sanctioned by the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF). Season 2 started last August 2 and will culminate on October 18 for the finals.

Canossa Academy-Lipa is the league’s defending champions capturing the crown back in 2007. This indoor volleyball tournament is currently being participated by 24 schools all over Luzon, but the majority are within Metro Manila. These teams are:

Ateneo de Manila University, Lourdes School Mandaluyong, San Sebastian College, St. Anthony School, University of Santo Tomas, Mayamot National High School, University of the East, Xavier School, Diliman Preparatory School, Manuel Roxas High School, Angeles University Foundation, San Antonio de Padua College, De La Salle – Lipa, Claret School, Grace Christian High School, Imus Institute, Hope Christian High School, St. Joseph’s College, Colegio San Agustin, Lipa Montessori School, Canossa Academy, Southville International School, Sta. Elena High School, and St. James Academy – Malabon.

I founded Metro Sports 5 years ago and have organized the following Leagues:

Toby’s Sports Junior Volleyball League: Now on its 4th season. This League is an Elementary level League played by 24 schools teams from various Boys’ and Girls’ school teams.

Shakey’s Girls’ Volleyball League: Now on its 4th season (2008), the League is composed of 32 Girls’ High School teams. We have expanded to Cebu-Bacolod-Iloilo. For the 5th season, the League will further expand to Tacloban, Cag de Oro and Davao.

Petron Treats Boys’ Volleyball League: Currently on its 2nd season and organizers are waiting for Petron’s Visayas roll-out to likewsie (like Shakey’s) hold their respective local Leagues.

CORRECTION: The Champion of the 1st season was CANOSSA ACADEMY of LIPA. Pasig Catholic College never joined the Leagues. They were, however, the Champions of last year’s Dunkin’ Donuts Cheerdance Competition and will defend the title this October.

Got most of the info from the net. Correction noted and this blog post has been corrected na po. Thanks Mr. Freddie for the info…

You have a nice blog here.. I am also a volleyball player for 9 years, back in high school and college. Played for UAAP when I was in high school, but I have to settle for being a varsity for my course only and not compete in UAAP since I have to concentrate on my studies. I wouldnt have finished architecture if I still played for the school.

Hope you can add me on you blogroll.

I will add you to mine.
