There will be a total of 15 Filipino athletes who will be representing our country in the upcoming 2008 Beijing Olympics which will start on August 8, 2008. And they are:
- BOXING
Harry Tanamor - SHOOTING
Eric Ang - ARCHERY
Mark Javier - WEIGHT LIFTING
Heidilyn Diaz - DIVING
Shiela Mae Perez
Rexel Ryan Fabriga - TAEKWONDO
Tshomlee Go
Mary Antoinette Rivero - SWIMMING
Miguel Molina
Ryan Arabejo
James Walsh
Daniel Coakley
Christel Simms
Actually, I only got 13 on the list above. But the latest news indicate there will be 15 delegates. Anybody knows who the other 2 Pinoy athletes are?
Marco Torres says:
Just 14 days to go before the Olympics. Don’t forget, it opens 08-08-08, 8pm. Catch it on HDTV. The Opening Ceremonies will surely be awesome with Zhang Yimou of Hero and House of Flying Daggers directing. It will be more spectacular than acrobatics, kung fu and opera combined. It will also be the time they will reveal the final torchbearer (Muhammad Ali in Atlanta ‘96 and Abroginese athlete Cathy Freeman in Sydney) and how the torch will be lit (via bow and arrow in Barcelona and from underwater in Sydney). It will be so exciting!
There’s an on-going exhibit in the Mall of Asia to commemorate the event. They feature the Pinoy athletes competing in the Beijing Olympics. They featured me as well so it’s a great, great honor.
Check it out if you happen to pass by.

Diba?
As for the Beijing Olympics, I know some people may think that these 15 delegates do not stand a chance in winning a medal. But hey, at least we are trying. At least we’re lucky enough to have these brave Pinoy athletes represent our country in the Olympics. And sometimes, it’s not about winning gold medals. It’s about bringing honor and glory to your country. Win or lose.

Haha.
gobyerno ang may kasalanan, i really hate the government we have. which is why i never exersice my right to vote. ang daming kulang, election nga di maayos ayos, volleyball pa kaya… we will need one good samaritan who will do all miracles for volleyball in the country. thanks to nestea, shakeys, studio 23, no thanks to nbn! useless channel… for keeping this game alive. siguro kung maisali sa SONA ang volleyball, may chance tayo sa larong ito hahaha, seriously am more interested in the game than listening and reading news about our useless politicians and government…
just want to share to you how disappointed i am… mabuti nalang may volleyball pa, hehehe nakakabuhay ng dugo…hahaha

hindi naman sa ayaw natin magpadala, kaso may screening para makapasok sa Olympics, you have to beat first the South east asian teams then the aAsian teams then pede ka ng contender sa Olympics eh because we aren,t that good in volleyball yet and in any some other teamsports like basketball football that’s why wala taung qualified ipadala, ang pede mo lang isisi sa gobyerno ahy less funding sa mga National Athletes at National Sport Commission saka ung none-existing projects like sports program sa mga bara-barangay,un lang!!go!!sisihin mo na Gobyerno, samahan kita dito, heheheh
“thanks to nestea, shakeys, studio 23, no thanks to nbn! useless channel”
Why naman NBN a useless channel?
no thanks kasi lahat ng pinapakita nila sa channel nato ay sang ayon sa gobyerno, well its their channel hahaha, tapos pag may mga tinetelecast na laro pinuputol, huh, parang kung gusto lang nila, dapat nga this channel will serve as a sport channel kasi its from the government and government is for the people, therefore this channel is for the people hahaha…. just like what happen to the v-league s5c1, a disaster, dis appointed lang ang mga tao…hehehe
oh by the way, nbn ba o nbc?hahaha
yah thats my point, its their fault because they do not give much attention to the sport. i dont blame them because we do not have numerous of participants and besides not all sports in the olympics have qualifying rounds like boxing, we know that we are very strong with this one but such sport do not receive enough funding from the government, but to their shortcomings, non-performance of the task theyre suppose to do and negligence. it will still boil down on how the governmtent handles everything. kaya lets blame them hahaha…..

Hi,
nice to converse again with you. I think all sports in olympics ay may qualifying rounds specially boxing…yun, kung di ako nagkakamali, pero i am pretty sure na may qualifying rounds ang boxing. Magaling nga tayo sa boxing pero mahirap pa rin lumusot, SEA Games pa lang bagsak na tayo, Sa ASIAN lalo - andun ang mga Arabo, Asian boxing officials(mandaraya) sa Olympics - dahil sa boxing, points by judges ang pinag uusapan kung di mo ma-KO yung kalaban mo - na mahirap din ma-KO ang kalaban mo dahil amateur nga(di mo mapangahan yung kalaban mo) - eh how many times na ba tayo nadaya sa boxing - hay, remember the last incident sa Thailand SEA games? Onyok Velasco? ‘Tsaka way back 1960’s ata…dinaya rin tayo sa boxing sa olympics. Sorry - Volleyball site pala ito….hahahaha.
OT - pag ganunng ala kwenta gobyerno natin - sulong na natin federal government - toink, however , I’m serious on FEDERALISM!
i must agree with you…. FEDERALISM is way better… yeah i remember what happened in the Thailand SEA GAMES and to ONYOK VELASCO, DAVID BUGILOV defeated him through a very bias and unfair judgement and scoring…
anyway, gobyerno parin ang masisi kasi nga lahat ng magagaling nating boxers eh ayaw sa sea games at sa olympics dahil sa kawalan ng suporta from the government at kasi kung manalo man eh talo pa rin financially… hehehe… mas gugustuhin nila yung may belt, mas maraming pera.
ay teka diba volleyball site ito hahaha…
OT—-bbol people like you keeps this site interesting..hehehe…
