21. You’ve been playing in street leagues. What kind of “high” that these kind games bring you?
I just enjoy playing street volleyball especially if it’s one-day league. In fact, when I still have playing years in UAAP, I play street volleyball a lot, that’s one of the things I do for physical and mental conditioning. Because there are things in volleyball that you will learn in playing street volleyball that you will not learn from your school training like maturity and versatility.
22. You are a very effective hitter. What’s your anting-anting?
Thanks! But I don’t have anting-anting. I just have lucky charm which I always wear. If you notice my necklace made of Swarovski crystals. That lessens stress. Hehehe.
23. Are you still affected when you opponents do trash talking? Do you trash talk?
Hehehe! No, it won’t affect me and I don’t trash talk. I just ignore what they say. In fact, evrytime my opponent start to trash talk and do his “pagyayabang”, I won’t get it in my system but my pagtataray will surely come out. And I like it, it’s my moral booster. Nothing personal about it. It’s all about entertainment, para hindi boring.
24. Who are your favorite volleyball players and why?
I like Giba of Brazil and Mireya Luis of Cuba women’s volleyball team.
25. What other sport/s do you play aside from volleyball? And what sports do you want to try out for a change?
I play badminton but not often. I wanna try swimming, because I’m not graceful when I swim. Hehehe.
26. You are from UP right? How were you able to balance your studies and being a varsity player at the same time during college?
Oh! In UP you’re only allowed to take 15- 18 units only for the first 2 years. And then you can take up to 21 units after, but if your gonna do that, OMG! You will never have your social life. We usually start training at 5pm until 9pm MWF. And we need to prioritize studies first before anything. Of course how’d you be able to play if you will not pass your subjects and you will not meet the 24-unit university rule. Its hard but if you don’t prioritize and balance everything, you will just end up crying. Hehehe!
27. Have you ever played any Pinoy indigenous game like tumbang preso, patintero, taguan, and syato? What was your favorite?
Yap! In UP we have this subject where we study and play all Philippine games. I like “night and day”. It’s really fun especially if you play it with your crush! Heheheh.
28. What is your dream for Philippine Volleyball?
Honestly speaking, I just want Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) to position someone in the who has great vision and well equipped in developing the sport and his heart is really after the betterment of volleyball in the country. Because as what I can see, its been so many years that there are still a lot of people taking the position but still they all take volleyball as their cream of the crop. They just take volleyball as a business that they can get and earn money for their own pockets. We need not just a man who can dictate people but a man of principle and vision that can never be dictated by anybody else. Someone who can design projects and activities that will encourage all volleyball enthusiasts from all provinces all over the country to not just participate but also support Philippine volleyball in their endeavors. In this way we could get more sponsors that will help this Philippine volleyball develop and support all the potential volleyball players that will represent our county and through them, Philippines would be popular not only in boxing, swimming, billiards etc., but also in volleyball.

I think I saw Allen and his UP friends play a long time ago and they’re really good. Allen is a high jumper!
Very nice interview. The answer to question#28 is very interesting. Made me raise my eyebrows and say, “so ganun pala sa mundo ng politika sa volleyball”, hehe…
