Lyceum lording over San Sebastian..
Ateneo in Three nerve wracking games
[Reply]
wala na si satsatin. lyceum being swept in 2 games.
ateneo taking the last 2 games with adamson taking the first in a five setter.
I want to ask bakit may “if necessary” na laro? For what yun? Newbie here. Thanks!
[Reply]
ang gulo nga……….
why should Ateneo be facing Lyceum again and SSC-R against Adamson?
best of three kasi,if a team win 2 straight games panalo na,pag tigisa sila ng panalo kelangan ng tie breaker kaya there will be an extra knockout game that will be held on sunday, pero kung manalo ulit adamson at baste sa friday, wala ng laro sa sunday, nagetz ba?ako hinde, geheheh
best of three series kasi yung finals so that’s why there’s a possible third game kaya “if necessary”.
@bbol: This info was just forwarded to me. It’s a typo error!!! Ayan, corrected na po..

agree. when cara was moved to the middle, she gave charo a run for her money. kumbaga, naging best blocker and attacker lang naman siya ng ateneo.
go cara! sana share sila ni karla sa finals MVP haha
I’m afraid it’s gonna be ADAMSON that will win this conference!
[Reply]
Wag naman sana.
oo nga, afraid nga ako pag adamson manalo this friday. sana ateneo muna para magka game 3, may suspense naman
Walang thrill kung makukuha ng adU kagad. *IF EVER* .. Waag naman sana! =[
mga gago adamson talaga ang mananalo

oohh we got a pottymouth in here
I don’t know why, but I just want this conference to end.
It has been a season of unpredictabilities.
UST and LaSalle– two of the stronger teams in the league are absent.
FEU, fresh from their UAAP championship win, joined with a rookie-laden line-up.
Lyceum got in the final four, considering the absence of Carillo in line-up.
SSC is now just battling for the third spot.
…and more
I hope next conference will be more exciting.
Right now, I don’t care who ever wins the title.
Goodluck to both teams.
Goodluck to Shakey’s V-League, may you fill The Arena with Michelle Segodine fans!
GOODLUCK!!!

To those FEU fans still stuck with their UAAP championship feeling!
Regarding Guest Players
I just observed that they are bitter as always since after FEU won the UAAP. The thing is, if you are a fan of FEU or if it is your alma matter, DONT EXPECT MORE from your team especially when it engages in other women’s volleyball tournament, aside from what the UAAP offers, because FEU is only committed to UAAP -WVT- You should criticize your team’s manager for not grabbing an all around GP, Carloz is right in this particular topic. I just dont know the reason why FEU opts every time to skip hiring worthy GPs. In my opinion maybe:
1. The FEU team is just too lofty with itself that it wont mind having a GP from outside the team “former members”.
2. They don’t have the PR qualities to lure a potential MVP quality GP that FEU only end up with their former exceptional but just average players /take for example Ms. Manalo and Ms. Torres/. In the past FEU had quiet a rooster of GPs, however they perform, they could not just lift up FEU to even finish up in the semifinals or at least get the fourth place finish.
3. Or FEU don’t have the resources. It might be compensation wise, location, benefits or that they simply lack the connections in acquiring a GP please correct me if I’m wrong..
Their “strategy” and addiction
Okay, I will not contend the history of FEU in winning double digit numbers of championship in UAAP. Still, one thing I observed, FEU in almost all sports is “power hungry”. My term of FEU comprises alumnis, fans, management and students alike. They like to boost of their school, well that is what is expected of all institution, but the thing is, FEU supporters are just well above the threshold of the fine line of being too wound up and addicted to a CHAMPIONSHIP FEELING. FEU accomplishes this by employing relatively excessive fresh men student support of theirs wearing their used up not golden but yellow T-shirts, whenever FEU has a match in whatever sport in the UAAP. Deploy propaganda like university band, complete with trumpets, all kinds of drums, lyres, trombones and even triangles etc, aside from the regular cheering band which should only be comprised of drums and cheering squads. Plus, the worst thing they do to deserve being labeled a “power hungry” institution is that they force their students to attend their matches to the point that some of these students, sporting again the signature t-shirt complete with their mascot’s full blown horns, which is exaggerated, assume the status of being a production assistant or P.A. of their supposedly hyped, disputed superstar star kind of a feeling of an average player. I witness many times especially in WVT, while watching their matches in the court side. These students brought all the paraphernalias at their player’s whim.
Regarding the last UAAP WVT
FEU won the last UAAP WVT at the expense of Adamson deceivingly. I prefer to use the said term instead of “disputably” because I had recognized like all others, mindful and sane with volleyball, that winning in a sport is very improbable as the saying “bilog ang bola”. Imagine, a team losing all their four first matches with the same opponent and then EVENing the last two surprisingly. The question is, how did they accomplish that and finally labeled the phrase “deceivingly won”. Simple, they downgraded the opposing school’s supporter’s attendance in the championship matches to the point of using up at least three-fourths of the venue’s sits. I just could not believe why they made it to annoy the opposing team’s game by just their sheer numbers. And then they started to thrash mouth their opponent’s supporters which made it even worst, of course other schools have their share but FEU exceedingly and relatively is too much to handle . Believe me, with their line-up at that time, their is no way they could win unless with the help of their all too imposing thrash talking supporters. The opponent simply did not came out with their usual game because of the atmosphere!
Regarding the present which matters most
No matter how many championships FEU had in the past, nothing can compare the present. The V-league is nowadays the most prestigious WVT and no one can contend that! FEU had many years of experience in the league, I think five years and counting, that is if they will still be invited the next time. I hope the commissioners will not have a mistake of allowing this team with their rookie-laden line-up the next time. The truth is, FEU just doesn’t have the intention to win many matches in the V-league, they just want to practice for the next UAAP where they are disputably dominant with other institutions. The UAAP is as always a toss-up and FEU is not its greatest team, that would contemporarily be UST!
Guys, I hope I’m wrong…
[Reply]
Ugh, you have waaay TOO many points to contend with. But basically, I get the gist of your argument. You were saying that FEU strategizes its win by:
(1) raping the opposition by overhauling them with crazed fan/supporters
(2) trashtalking which destroys the morale of the opponent
the second point may be acceptable to some degree, but we all know by now that trashtalking is part of any sport. If your opponent is intimidated by it, then he’s not worthy to win. But the first point is just pure BULL. If you are accusing FEU of using its students because the school is power-hungry, then what can you say about UST and even my school, UP? DON’T YOU KNOW THAT UST EVEN CANCELS ITS CLASSES JUST TO HAVE STUDENTS ATTEND THEIR RESPECTIVE SPORTS PROGRAMS?? In the recent years of the cheerdance competition in the UAAP, UST has the largest fanbase (because of what I said they’re required to attend) and almost filling out half of Araneta. But forget the cheerdance and UAAP! How about these previous conferences in the V-League? The sheer number of UST fans obviously dominated the SSC-R fans, and UST won that conference. So, using the logic of your argument,we can say that UST ONLY WON because they have more supporters than the opposing team? Seriously, I call BULL on that. Do you think it’s fair that we say that a powerful UST team, which has several National team members, only won because thay have more supporters?
On the GP issue, let’s not speculate until we have concrete evidence of why FEU doesn’t acquire foreign GP’s. It’s not our place.
I think its quite unfair that we not give credit to the actual talent and training done by the players and just blame it all on the fans. The truth is, FEU just played way better in the finals than Adamson did. If you are a real volleyball fan, you won’t even have to question this. But I digress. I have to spell it out for you.
(1) Admason lost due to overconfidence. I mean, why not? They have beaten FEU in four games already, the last two of which are five-setters…It’s morale boosting for any team. Also, they have two weapons in solid floor defense and Sang’s drop balls. If you recall the interviews of BOTH Ateneo’s Coach Dulay and FEU’s Coach Nes, you would know that they hate those drop balls. After all, Sang have been doing them throughout the season. If she hasn’t been checked ’til game one of the finals, then that means that they have the championship in the bag, right? WRONG.
(2) This overconfidence in the floor defense and drop balls proved their downfall come game two. Daquis came away with A GENIUS game by swiping every ball on Serafica’s hands, getting her easy kills and outsmarting the floor defense. Also, FEU girls played defense well by putting coverage behind the blockers. At this point, Sang didn’t use her head enough. She still kept on dropping balls, which didn’t score them any points but instead gave an easy ball to the opponents.
So there you have it. That’s a gameplay analysis for you. All in all, I think that the game that happened in the finals is more on a game of adjustments: who will adjust better? Adamson, knowing that their strategy works all along, didn’t bother to change it. The Lady Tams, on the other hand, slapped themselves in the face and managed to adjust their game in time to WIN THE LAST TWO GAMES THAT MATTERED MOST. Supporters or trashtalking matter little in my opinion. Also, as a final point, what kind of players are you supporting if they get intimidated by fans and trashtalking? Think aloud.
The argument need not be applied to UST because their is no question they have the talent and morale but not the exceesive bolstering aside from the school in this topic else your right. Also, UST does not bring the whole University band in critical matches, please read careully…
Only Semana and Taganas were not to be blamed for being UNSPORTSMANLIKE BAD mouthing back then. Morada almost got GROUNDED because of her game attitude particularly at that time (match 3) but the worst was Cafranca!
Surely you can say that as game play???
Widen up.
[Reply]
kantiin mo na lahat wag lang ang Cafranca mo.
I have answered your arguments one by one.
Hanapin mo na lang kung saan!
Ahooo! Pinag-iinit talaga ang ulo ko!
very well said…..
why would there be exemption???
you are talking about trashtalking and the outnumbered fans inside the court???ust has more fans than feu i bet but in this season they didnt get the championship….
FEU rules… that it…
besides kasama sa game ang yabangan…
magyabang man ang feu mayayabang din naman ang adu… patas lng…
yun ang lng nilamon ng yabang ang adu natalo tuloy….
hihihi….
and what about segodine and sang laguilles and even serafica? hay serious youre just making it hard… i love those three ladies but youre pushing me to mention them for you to get reminded of what are the things they did last uaap season… if you think the university band will help your team to win then bring all of you got..
[Reply]
i Agree….
the 3 are really good players also….
