April 21, 2008 UPDATE: Almost there! As many of you insisted, we’ll be relocating the chatbox as part of the home page soon. I’d say we’re 95% complete at this point.
April 16, 2008 UPDATE: As of now, what you see is the new look and feel of Spikeithard. I’d say we’re about 90% completed at this point. Site navigation and other website features may not yet work.

@RPSPIKERS.TK: Eh kaso you’re using Proboards diba? So the AdSense ads there belong to them not to the forum owners right? Forums are actually ideal for CPM type of ads since malakas sa pageview traffic usually.
I have a “netrepreneur” friend (actualy dalawa lang sila) who started Motorcycle Philippines forums a few years ago and guess what, they’re earning at least P50k a month from direct advertisers alone. Wala pa dun yung AdSense nile.
This was the reason why I wanted to develop a Spikeithard forum sana. But just did not have the time and man-power to do it. Eh tapus biglang sumupot ang rpspikers.tk, nabuhay and vleague.tk, at gumanda ang v-league.ph forum! Hehe, so that’s why I decided to just focus on what (my wife and I) know best, blogs!
This “volleyball niche” is potentially huge talaga. Hmm, maybe if we get the chance to meet up I can give you guys tips on how to monetize your forum
My friend and I were planning to create a buy and sell forum. Inaayos niya pa yung format. Pwedeng ads free sa proboards, less than 100 dollar per year lang. Yan ang aasikasuhin ko before mag June.
Yung buy and sell forum namin eh hindi namin gagawin sa proboards. Kasi yung proboards eh pang fansite talaga. Siguro sa vbulletin kami gagawa. Yung daily traffic ng forum [rpspikers.tk] namin, has an average of 180 registered members/220 guests.

@RPSPIKERS.TK: Yup, maraming better forum platforms out there rather than Proboards. I suggest you go for the open-source phpBB like what they use in v-league.ph site. Okay din ang vbulletin kaso you need to purchase a license pa!
Okay ha, the v-league.ph people are cooking up something din I think. Tapus kayo rin pala may binabalak. Basta just let me know para Spikeithard can help promote.

Let us create an award giving body sa mga volleyball players. ito yung breakdown kung pano ijujudge:
80% online poll
20% judges decision
Yung judges, may mga naiisip na ako. Tapos siguro we can send a letter sa shakey’s/mikasa kung pwede silang magdonate for the certificates na ibibigay natin. Yung ceremony, kahit online ceremony muna. Yun ang ginagawa namin sa quiz V [quiz contest of http://www.rpspikers.tk Tapos i-mamail na lang natin yung mga certificates sa mga bahay ng mga mananalo.
Tapos kung magiging successful, maybe on our second year of giving awards, we can have a live ceremony na kahit sa restaurant. But the first thing na kailangan nating pag usapan eh pangalan ng award giving body natin.

Hmmm, medyo mahirap yang award body concept na yan. Coz usually you give awards to vball players during tournaments, events, etc. I suggest you focus on the “online” aspect and make your fan-base the ‘judge’.
I was part of the Philippine Blog Awards event last year and this year, and I must say that finding credible judges is a hard task. Di pwede kung sinu-sino. (So sino bang mga judge na naisip mo?)

If you’re looking for a good venue, then I suggest sa Ateneo College Covered Courts. Concrete and courts. The nets are what the varsity teams use during training so okay naman. Dun din ginagawa yung mga Milo Best summer camps so it’s just right for an event like an EB-slash-sportsfest. We can rent 1 or 2 volleyball courts there. Lalaro nga kami this Thursday, 6-9pm. That’s P800 with lights na.
Another venue I know is Club650 Libis kaso super mahal ang volleyball court rental duon. But at list the floor is rubberized.
another good venue is the court in the makati stock exchange building. rubberized din yung floor.. though im not sure kung magkano ang rental dun…
