Aside from the usual volleyball, I’m going to report about the other two of the most popular UAAP sports as well.
Of course I won’t give names yet but I’ll just give some clues. By the way, I’m just going to feature the three most watched sports in UAAP namely Men’s Basketball, Men’s Football and Women’s Volleyball in which Ateneo was very successful in recruiting with.
Men’s Basketball
Ateneo has of course locked in a very sharp shooter and an NCAA MVP from San Sebastian College - Recoletos. He stands about 6′2 or 6′3 and plays the forward position. Another one would be a center from Chang Kai Shek College who stands 6′5 and is the Metro Manila Basketball Tiong Lian League MVP. Aside from that, a 6′3 from San Beda College decided to study also at the Ateneo and a schoolmate of Blue Eagle Kirk Long in Faith Academy who stands about 6′5.
Men’s Football
Ateneo de Manila has probably the best football program not just in the UAAP but in the country as well as most of their teams be it grade school, high school or college would always contend for the crown every year. This year, the success of Ateneo de Manila has been shown by recruiting two Southville hotshots and two De La Salle Zobel standouts. It is reported that these four chose to study at the Ateneo purely because of academic reasons as well.
Women’s Volleyball
Just to make this blog consistent, even though you guys already know the names, I’m going to mention the recruits of the Lady Eagles. Of course, they have two Saint Scholastica’s College standouts one being a two-time WNCAA MVP and the other being the two-time WNCAA Best Attacker. The MVP plays more of like a Charo Soriano who can play any position while the Best Attacker is very powerful that she can be compared to one of the best open spikers in the UAAP right now. Another powerful hitter that Ateneo de Manila has recruited is a girl who stands the same as Charo Soriano and studies at the Immaculate Concepcion Academy. Like the MVP from Saint Scholastica’s College, she can play any position as well. Two setters have been recruited to study at the Ateneo de Manila, one from Philippine Institute of Quezon City and one from Hope Christian High School who has earned last Girl’s V-League MVP and Best Setter Awards. The other is a libero from Hope Christian High School and the NCR team last year and is a very promising digger. Take note, not only can she dig hard balls but she can score kills as well. The last will be a girl from Batangas who is tall and will probably play Middle Blocker. The girl will is actually being compared to Desiree Hernandez who was a UAAP two-time MVP and a very versatile player. Desiree Hernandez was also hailed as Shakey’s V-League Best Attacker in the 3rd Season.
These recruits in the different sports are actually the most sought since not only Ateneo was recruiting them but other schools too like arch-rival La Salle, UP, UST, San Beda, FEU, etc. It just so happens that Ateneo de Manila got lucky this year and got almost all the recruits that they actually wanted to study in their school.

Based on what I saw last night against San Beda (filoil flying v preseason tournament)
Their 4 recruits are still projects to be tested in the college level.
But there is no doubt that these recruits are certified blue chips with impressive highschool basketball credentials.
Ateneo is still a force to reckon with in the upcoming uaap season.

Haha. They’re a threat for La Salle’s back to back campaign. But it’s okay. It’s very hard to hate Ateneo! Haha. They’re not just good but there are a lot of cute guys in their team. Haha.

ngayong sunday may laban n naman ang ateneo against the number one team in the league adamson, dito n naman masusukat ang blocking, defense ng ateneo lalo n ang napakarami nilang error sa serving, you have to get attnetion to bautista, laguilles, and serafica a very good setter, this 3 girls you have to be aware of , if you will win to adamson then you can also beat san sebastian , good luck ateneo the fight is not yet still over, give adamson and san sebastian a hard game to play even though you canot beat this team. watch also for latigay and devanadera in ssc kasi parang hirap magdefence ang ateneo sa two girls na to

the team to beat this season of UAAP volleyball is Lasalle. Ewan ko lang kung makakalaro na yung “secret weapon” nila. Hindi sina saet at santos yun ah….Iba pa yung sinasabi ko.

Yup. I think my school will be the strongest next season. Haha. Actually, I already have an idea on who their first six will be. Of course I won’t reveal it here. Haha. I’m more excited about how the Ateneo vs La Salle rivalry next season will be. The recruits of Ateneo are not just pretty but powerful and tall as well. As for La Salle, well, I think everyone knows that Manilla Santos and Charleen Cruz will be back. Relea Ferina Saet according to my friends in the team, won’t play na. Attacking will be the strength of both Ateneo and La Salle.
Pero iba din ang training sa ust, ang kinukuha kasi nila eh yung may potential at hindi yung magaling na. Kaya yung form ng pagpalo eh makikita mo sa mga players ng ust. International ang body form kapag pumapalo. Kaya super exciting ang season ngayon for volleyball. Halos lahat ay maglalaban para sa korona.

Yeah. I agree. Coach Roger Gorayeb is already designing plays for Ateneo. Haha. I wonder how Coach Roger would look like as the assistant coach of the Ateneo Lady Eagles. We’re used to him wearing red shirts always. Haha. I want to see him wear blue.
But seriously, Ateneo and La Salle would be the top contenders for me. If let’s say the rookies of Ateneo would react quickly on the system. Pero if not, a Final Four finish lang siguro. UST would be rebuilding but still a dangerous team with Miss Angeli Tabaquero and Miss Aiza Maizo. FEU of course would always be in the Final Four. They’re the only team in the UAAP who never missed the Final Four. Adamson would be hard pressed with a new setter, new middle and new libero. But still, Miss Rissa Jane Laguilles and Miss Angela Benting are still there to provide for the Lady Falcons. The five teams who contended last year will also be the teams who will contend this coming UAAP Season 71 for the UAAP Final Four and the crown.

In football: UAAP schools should recruit players from western visayas,,,,especially from negros and barotac in iloilo…this place are the so-called football capital in the philippines…il bet my money that any of these palyers from the province will kick their A$$. no wonder in the recent UNI-games…probisyano spank the big-city hotshots…btw, the majority of the national players comes from the western visayas..no need to explain…you could also check the website of barcelona…one of the greatest striker ever played in barcelona came from iloilo——–>Mr.alcantara

suzzane roces(ue), angela benting, rizza ann laguilles, lizlie ann gata, janet serafica,jill gustillo(adu), taganas, acevedo,ma. charo soriano(admu), anna camille abanto, rachell anne daquis, cafranca, irish morada, shaira gonzales(feu), angeli tabaquero, rica vida guttierez, venus bernal, lilet mabbayad, mary jane balse(ust), beverly boto & dahlia cruz(lpu)..

Well Season 71 Women’s Volleyball Teams should used and will prepare the Technical or Scientifical, pHysical and Psychological approach used by The Volleyball Standards. Many of our Potential players are tall and really need to used the methological approach.
