Cavite State University tops the 2008 PASUC IV Olympics

The Southern Tagalog Region is a traditional sports powerhouse in the Philippines. This was celebrated during the 2008 PASUC IV Olympics held at the RSC Gymnasium last February 2008. Cavite State University (CVSU) topped the annual sporting event for the third time. First runner-up was Palawan State University, then followed by University of Rizal System. Other schools who participated were (in ranking): Occidental Mindoro National College, Batangas State University, Southern Luzon State University, Romblon State College, Laguna State Polytechnic College, Western Philippines University, and Mindoro State College.

The Women’s Volleyball champion was none other than my alma mater, CVSU. Hooray!!! Viva Cavitenas!! They reigned supreme over state universities all over the region. Does anybody know Diane Diaz of Letran Knights? Well, she came from CVSU. Although basketball was her first love. The University of Rizal Systems on the other hand, won the Men’s Volleyball championship

I really hope to see my kalalawigans to be at the mainstream volleyball scene. Hope they’ll have more exposure just like what some Visayan teams in the V-league are experiencing right now. To fellow Cavitenos out there, let’s do our best to reach the top. Congratulations once again to Cavite State University.

“To CVSU our faith goes on, cradle of hope and bright vision.”
