‘Player of the Game’ watch

Though not of an extreme importance, I’d just like to tally the player of the game winners, just for fun and some interesting discussion. Is this list a legitimate MVP ranking?

  • 1. Lou Ann Latigay (SSC-R) - 2
  • 2. Charo Soriano (Ateneo) - 1
  • 2. Lizlee Ann Gata (Adamson) - 1
  • 2. Macaila Irish Morada (FEU) - 1
  • 2. Misha Quimpo (Ateneo) - 1

Some notes:

* It’s too bad Lou Ann Latigay doesn’t get the credit she deserves. As much “TV time” Charo gets from UAAP coverage, theres no chance we can watch Latigay simply dominate NCAA volleyball on TV. Her skills are definitely at par with the UAAP’s best scorer. Definitely one of the most underrated players in the game.

* Lizlee Ann Gata won POG honors, the first libero to do so since Mary Jane Pepito.. some time ago. I really admired Adamson’s floor defense during the UAAP games, and Lizlee is a big reason why.

* With the absence of four starters in the first game (Semana, Daquis, Cafranca, Abanto) Macaila Morada stepped up big time with 24 points. With FEU looking to develop their young stars this conference, Morada will be challenged to lead (already team captain) and guide the rest of the team after their UAAP championship.

* Also, looks like Ateneo is starting to spread the wealth, not relying too heavily on Miss Charo. Misha Tallied 14 points in the straight set win over Benilde.

..and this will not transpire without the guidance of new headcoach of Ateneo “Mik-Mik” Laborte..Headcoach being a gurl and still can play and show the moves will trully improve their program coz she can still join practices and demo the plays she wants the girl to learn making it more easier for the girls to absorb than having a coach who will just dictate to you what to do and cant inject new ideas because of their old-fashioness…..aahhahhahah

ATENEO
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The word Ateneo is the Spanish and Italian form of the word Athenaeum. Ateneo, like Athenaeum, is used in the names of institutions or periodicals for literary, scientific, or artistic study. It may also be used in the names of educational institutions. The name Athenaeum is formed from the name of the classical Greek goddess Athena (the goddess of wisdom) in the same way that museum is formed from muse (the goddesses of culture). Ateneo, meanwhile, is translated into Spanish the same way Museo (Museum) and Liceo (Lyceum) are.

ONE BIG FIGHT!! TARUSH!!ahahaah

I’ll go for latigay as well. Last v-league i saw fire in her play, the will and the determination. She was simply awesome. And I believe she will continue to be so this v-league season. By the way she’s the only one who can bend her body into a C when spiking, yeah!

But Morada is showing another side of her. The leadership. It was an eye opener. I often relish her mighty spikes, with veneration. And she did step up BIG TIME during her last game. Unfortunately, volleyball is a team sports and she can’t simply do all the work for her team. That being said, they have a nil chance of being in the finals. So her place as mvp, sad to say, is far-fetched. But I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Fate can only tell. Good luck.

misha quimpo is like their replacement for bea pascual right? hmm… big shoes to fill… i think the player of the game notices per game will not be the basis for mvp, but i really think that luann latigay deserves to be mvp this year… she is definitely one of the “underrated” players…
