V-League guest players rumble

This season probably had one of the most tiring times to find a guest player for a team. It took V-League Board to adjust and adjust the deadlines of the line-up of teams since a lot of teams are having a hard time getting a guest player. There’s the Tournament in Vietnam that’s why the supposed to be Thai imports of Ateneo, San Sebastian and FEU are not playing, and the over exhaustion of some players from different tournament, likewise, the students wanting to study more so that they can attain high grades and the Nestea Beach Volley Circuit.

However, after months of finding, the eight V-League teams have found guest players who they think can suit in their line-up.

  • Adamson - Nerissa Bautista of University of San Agustin who will probably play as open spiker and will contribute a lot in the blocking of the Adamson Lady Falcons. Nerissa Bautista by the way was the top local player in terms of scoring last season, behind Thai imports Lithawat Kesinee of Ateneo de Manila and Jaroensri Bualee of San Sebastian.
  • Ateneo de Manila - Jindarat Kanchana of Rattana Bundit University will be the guest player of the Lady Eagles in the preliminaries. A New Thai Patcharee Sangmuang is set to suit for them come either semifinals or quarterfinals. Jindarat Kanchana will most likely play as open spiker and will probably contribute a lot in attacking, serving and digging.
  • Benilde - Lilet Mabbayad, formerly from UST Tigresses, will serve as guest player for the Lady Blazers. She will probably play as Middle Blocker since the team needs a good blocker to pace up with the other teams. The Japanese Import is said to come semifinals or quarterfinals but no assurance yet if the player is sure.
  • Far Eastern - Failure to get Michelle Carolino because she will serve as an Assistant Coach to another team made FEU to get their assistant coach Dianne Torres. She will probably play as Open Spiker since there are already assignments with regards to the positioning of players. A familiar Thai Sanorseang Areerat is said to suit up for the Lady Tamaraws come either semifinals and quartefinals.
  • Lyceum - Lyceum is going to get alumna Dahlia Cruz as guest player. I don’t know what her position will be since Dahlia can be both a middle blocker and an outside hitter. The team will be needing a reliable setter though before they can really assert strength in attacking.
  • San Sebastian - The Lady Stags need a good middle blocker and maybe that’s the reason why Suzanne Roces of University of the East will play for them. Suzanne Roces contributes a lot and led UST to its back to back championship last conference. Among the Tigresses, she led in scoring and likewise in blocking and overall floor defense. She will probably be a factor in the eliminations. Come semifinals, a familiar Thai Jaroensri Bualee is said to play for them come semifinals or quarterfinals.
  • San Jose - Erika Verano, who can be compared as one of the Thai-leveled guest players, will probably be the most “impact” local guest player in the tournament. The Lady Jaguars will be parading a very defensive roster and it is but fitting to put someone tall and offensive like Erika Verano to lead the San Jose Recolets squad in attacking and blocking.
  • Saint La Salle - The Lady Stingers are getting a high school standout named Patty Jane Orendain of La Carlotta High School in Negros Occidental. The team is needing a legitimate open spiker and that is the position of the said very powerful and high-leaping guest player which is why a lot is expected from the Bacolod-based team.

benilde doesnt know how to play, linampaso lang sila ng SAn sebastian,Lyceum cant produce much points, carillo is missing in their line up and guest player Dahlia cruz isnt contributing at all, misha quimpo of Ateneo is still adjusting to her new position but is doing fine as Middle hitter as Kesinee and ballentyne cant play for Ateneo for this conference,Kanchana is the girl to watch out for Coz almost all her Open hits for ateneo scores a point…

[Reply]

ANCHETA ROCES connection was marvelous on the other hand, lilet’s addition to benilde isnt yet that productive coz her jelling to the team is not yet stable, all games ended in 3 sets,in Favor of Ateneo over Lyceum and san Sebastian over Benilde..

Hay…
Kulang…Ateneo needs a reliable blocker talaga…
Magaling sana ang libero ng lyceum…kaso sayang kasi halos si Boto at Jarin lang ang offensive players nila…si Jarin…erratic din sa reception…
Di lumabas(inilabas) ang totoong laro ng Baste kahapon…siguro dahil they didn’t need to do some extra efforts to beat Benilde…
Mabayad(as well as Dahlia Cruz)…she needs to step up to show that she’s not a looking-guest-player…erratic din at walang power yung mga hits nya(maybe Mabayad is still adjusting with the team)…
Hay…opinion ko lang

Hope we could see more actions sa mga next games…Baka mas exciting pa laro ng mga Visayan Teams!

yeah.. only the import of ateneo showed the essence of being an import, well, kanchana is kanchana….

on the other hand, suzzane’s showing was moderate, since pepito and latigay are srepping-up. it is notable that baste can do running attacks now because of roces. ancheta is doing good. i also hope for more exciting games in the future…

natuwa ako sa trivia na galing kay
Miss Bituin Escalante, she said that we Pinoys invented the powerful stroke in volleyball the SPIKE!!so we invented the Spike,we invented the Setter,we inspired 3 touches..so it’s like we Pinoys were really the one that devised the real volleyball we are playing today, yet we can’t win the sport against other countries because of height advantage, heheheh

[Reply]

Grabe,,, SSC-R galing… am hoping that carillo will play para mas gumaling pa ang lyceum…sayang talaga,,, sana nakapag adjust na si mabbayad…

[Reply]

ngapala ang cute ni quimpo sa middle, inaabangan ko talaga siya, since her first playing year hinihiling ko na talaga na her coach will give her a chance to prove her worth, medyo konti pa ng hasa pero i can already see that she can also be the go-go player of ATENEO hehehe… magaling si PU pero same lang naman sa mga players natin like bernal and actually semana can also do what shes doing…hehe… siguro kung nung uaap di na injured si pascual they might end up playing in the final two…pero now that bello soriano and taganas will no longer play in season 71 somebody from ateneo should really step up and i think si quimpo na yun hehehe… hay naku inlove naku sa ssc girls, daming magaganda hahaha…

cute si quimpo, japanese boyish girl, saka ung beach vollye serve nya, nakakatuwa, sana ma-improve ung running nya saka improve sa middle blocking, hindi pa yung ang tutuong game ni Ateneo, swear!!tinatago pa nila.

Can feu still dominate and be one of the teams to beat even if some of their players would not be playing…Tignan natin…kasi some of the guys here said na dapat daw alang butas ang team…regardless kung may mawala dapat mapalitan daw agad…di raw yun valid excuse na pag may mawala sa team eh hihina ang team…
di ko kuha logic nila…ang sakin lang naman

[Reply]

bbol…kuha ko ang logic nun,,,simple lang,,,yung consistency ng team performance should always be there even if some of its players are not around… ibig ba sabihin na aasa nalang sa iisang player at kung wala ito pwede maging excuse para magbabago ang paglalaro nila??? i hope FEU will really do good in the v-league…am excited on their first battle…hehehe…

[Reply]

this is real…we must admit that people come and people go…siguro naman…lahat ng coaching staffs of all the team are doing their best to train their players…pero iba iba ang talent at capacity ng every player…so if A1 player could not play…another player with A1 caliber should play for her position??? oh come on…hirap naman nun…sige let’s just see…basta ang alam ko there are key players and there are substitutes…if two or more key players are out…the whole team suffers…kahit saang team competition…this is how i observe…

[Reply]

Congrats to FEU..umabot ng 5th set..congrats..=)

[Reply]

5 sets against Benilde??? I hadn’t seen the game but I think this is what I was pointing a while ago…a team’s performance without some of it’s key players will really be affected…tapos sasabihin mo…not a valid excuse/reason…kasi pag ganun eh di sana di naaalis ang crown sa champion kasi nga di daw dapat maapektuhan ang consistency ng performance ng team even without their key players???…di ko talaga kuha ang logic…

pasintabi lang po ah…, with regards the absence of the key players of FEU, off course it probably affects the team’s performances! it’s really normal to expect a certain team’s major adjustments with regards its performance due to the absence of its key players. and i believed that FEU had some difficulties on their game match with st benilde because semana, daquis and their guest player were not able to play. i’m sure a lot of volleyball fans would agree to my claim/point. one thing more solid_feu, try to review the proper usage of “your” and “you’re”, and please don’t be offended of what i said okay?PEACE…(”,)!

April 2nd, 2008 at 11:26 am

In fairness to bbol, had FEU faced Ateneo, Adamson or San Sebastian, FEU could’ve been beaten easily in three sets.

bbol :
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:29 pm

I just observed it before when UST failed to dominate the most recent UAAP season…feu had defeated them in all of their 4 matches…somebody commented that maizo’s and mabbayad’s absence were not valid reason why UST was beaten…i don’t get the logic of that comment that’s why i’m bringing this out…
I’m not against feu…i’m against those people who are pathetic…yung mga talagang sarado ang utak!
Yes, a team should not lean on one player alone however, if that superplayer plays a very vital position in the team…for sure her absence will affect the team’s performance…
kasi kung di man lang maapektuhan ang performance ng team kahit mawala ang key player eh di sana ang champion dati ay manatiling champion kahit kelan…siguro naman malinaw na???

Miles Dy,
I saw Ateneo’s game last Sunday…they really need a reliable blocker…I’m sad but the season has just started…I’m looking forward to see them adjusted…and once again will show us a ONE BIG FIGHT!

actually, nagkabaligtad po ang gamit mo sa dalawa(your and you’re) and if you’ll going to review your previous post, you’ll be able to understand my point… okay i’ll just rephrase the first part of your message…

“ano daw??? you dont get it because YOU’RE closing YOUR mind….”

hey, please don’t be offended, i just simply want to make a correction…PEACE(”,)!

spiker0014 :
April 2nd, 2008 at 5:14 pm

yeah their performance will be affected but with morada and gonzales playing i think feu is still a team to beat. plus their guest player. if she is an effective one then maybe feu has still its chances. and don’t forget about abanto and cafranca they’re still on the team ryt?. maybe the reason why their game against benilde reached 5 sets is because they are still trying to makes some adjustments.

chrisanne1714 :

see, even without their key players they were able to manage the game and win it, five setter though… i hope they can sustain and win all their games… am abit sad because three of its best players are now “on-leave” from the team and we might not be able to see them playing for the v-league but i am happy also because the neophytes are now working and taking in charge of the team. would love to see thme shine hehehe…

anyway…congrats feu for the win
I just brought this issue since when UST lost its two players last UAAP season…their performance as a team was greatly affected…but someone commented that it was not a valid reason why they had lost…maybe…not the only reason however IT was for sure a BIG FACTOR…

for solid…
ang hirap ijustify ng reason mo…kasi sabi mo nga before…dapat walang butas ang isang team…now that Daquis, Semana, and Cafranca are ‘on leave’ ‘kamo…even if there are replacements for their positions…for sure, hihina ang team nila…would feu had fought against the stronger team last Tuesday…i doubt they had won…just an opinion…what i’m telling is not only for feu…lyceum as well at marami pang ibang teamS…hope YOU’RE not closing YOUR mind…
don’t get mad…just post your comments as well as I…

Daquis will fly tomorrow to visit her mom in germany but she might not stay long there because she still want to catch up the second round… congrats to fEU, twas a five setter but they performed well… first team to win in a five sets game hehehe… congrats uli…

[Reply]

solid…i’m not attacking feu…what i’m using now are your reasons before when you didn’t consider the factor when a team loses its key players…surely their performance as a team will be affected…who’s closing one’s mind???…may nagbago co’z they defeated Benilde in a 5-setter match…i remembered (arrogant) people said before that feu defeated powerhouse teams in 3 sets only…and now with Benilde…in 5 sets???ala bang nagbago???…hay

[Reply]

solid…i’m not raging war against your team…
(don’t be PIKON…just lay your comments…as well as i…to avoid misunderstanding…)if you just noticed…i have also some comments on other teams…hwag sarado ang utak, ok???

yeah i definitely agree with you…, lilet’s absence in the line up of the lady tigresses was such a big factor why UST failed to come up till the finals. lilet can really block and throw a more reliable attacks than mance. in addition to that, maizo’s absence as well caused a great loss for the team, however the damage has done already so we should just stand with the outcome. my only point here anyway is that lilet mabbayad and aiza maizo are more better options than mance and torrijos…(”,)!

April 4th, 2008 at 8:01 pm

napanuod ko ung 5 setter na Feu-Benilde match kahapon and lilet mabbayad was blocking micah morada. nakadami si lilet. ehehehe :)
