After talking with some of the players of the top three teams last V-League. A lot of them are not keen on joining the tournament because of the 1 guest player policy. I don’t know the reason why but I have an interpretation that it would be less exciting for them if ever teams would only have just 1 guest player.
I also was told that these teams might not even join the tournament anymore if the board will not reconsider the decision about the number of guest players. Remember that Ateneo, UST and SSC are three teams with great following. Taking these three out of the tournament can not only lessen the revenue of the tickets but also the excitement itself of the league.
I just hope the board reconsiders this decision. Come to think of it, it will not only gain more popularity but it might also improve the level of volleyball we have here in our country.

Adamson also share the same sentiment due to training already with Nerissa Bautista and Kristine Ann Dave since they thought too that V-League would allow two guest players. A complete waste of effort if this one guest player would push through.

I beg to disagree with you. Ateneo did well last conference even if there was only one import (Kesinee). Take note also that Ateneo beat UST twice, losing only in the do or die match. Had Ateneo won its game against La Salle, Ateneo would have advanced to the finals so I guess Ateneo was no push over considering that they only had one import then.

i think that is exactly the treason why ateneo wanted to get two imports because bea is not around…UST may have lose their game against ATENEO that time but take note also that UST dont have any imports that time while ATENEO has 1 and they was able to win the championship. Think of this, ATENEO+PASCUAL+KESINEE=2nd runner up, how much more if ATENEO-PASCUAL+Thai import? cguro nasa pang apat o panglima na sila… this is the reason why they are really pushing to have two imports on the team. on SSC-R, maybe they really wanted to get the championship after losing it to UST which is why they also wanted to get two imports…

I don’t think so. I think the reason why is because some of these three teams, yes, Adamson U and Lyceum included, were already practicing with their two guest players. Needless to say, it will be “panira ng momentum” because they were assuming and all prepared to train with two players already but change of plans had their way. Take the case of Lyceum who was already training with Miss Christina Salak and Miss Concepcion Legaspi, and Adamson who was already training with Miss Kristin Ann Dave and Miss Nerissa Bautista. I mean, you might not know the feeling but it would be disheartening to really invite someone and then uninvite that person because something happened. I hope you get my point.
If you would remember, V-League got popular in Season 2 where there are 3 guest players each per team. If I remember it right, there were four fan-favorites that time, La Salle, Ateneo, UST and SSC. La Salle got Miss Concepcion Legaspi, Miss Maureen Penetrante and Miss Michelle Carolino that time as guest players while UST got Miss Roxanne Pimentel, Miss Joyce Pano and Missus Johonna Botor-Carpio, Ateneo meanwhile got the services of Missus Amelia Divinagracia-Guanco, Miss Michelle Laborte and Miss Maria Theresa Iratay while San Sebastian got Missus Cherry Rose Rivera-Macatangay, Miss Cecille Chavas and Miss Jennifer Bohawe. I tell you that whenever two of these four teams would meet, the Rizal Coliseum would be filled up to the rafters.
Sorry Miles, I have to disagree on the first 2 lines your 2nd paragraph. Only Lasalle and UST had the big followers on that year and it was only last season when Ateneo started on attracting fans.
And I still believe na kayang kaya uling buhayin ng Lasalle ang mga fans nila na naghihintay lamang sa kanilang pagbangon.

Exactly my point. One example would be Lithawat Kesinee. I’m sure all of you notice how Miss Lithawat Kesinee teaches her Ateneo teammates to block an opponent properly, to dig a spike well and to use their heads most of the time in offense. Likewise with Miss Jaroensri Bualee who never fails to teach her San Sebastian teammates the 101s of attacking.
As for having two, we are therefore embracing that Philippines is in fact becoming popular. Why? It just means that having two guest players, it reflects that there are a lot of talents that we can use to generate popularity. Same factor applies in school’s interest to contribute to volleyball. By making a team competitive doesn’t mean you are greedy for bragging rights but it may be interpreted as something that can develop talents to improve the volleyball in our country. That with the help of the guest players, the other players of the team will be influenced or will be taught more of the things to play good volleyball. With this coping of international scheme, who knows, we may be even surpassing them using the skills that they taught and using also the homegrown skills or skills we traditionally use in our country.
I don’t know about you guys but I’m for promoting volleyball and not for school pride.

Nung sumali PSC sa league, that was the time that I got convinced that our volleyball program is very poor. Bakit? kasi PSC is the same group that won for our country the gold medal in women’s volleyball and mga retired na mga ito pero natatalo nila mga participating teams that time, teams which are by far younger than them and some are members of the national team. Kung di man matalo puro 5 setter ang game.
that was true… yun yung parang nagspark talaga yung interest ng karamihan sa volleyball… nakita nila that these ladies won the gold in 1993, they are now retired, maybe not all of them are active players, pero natatatalo pa nila ang younger teams… kaya mas lalong naging challengeing… after nun, kinuha nila sila aimee guanco at ers iratay… these women are the undisputed, the most talented batch of our country’s volleyball team… sana makabuo tayo ng team na kapantay nila…
Volleyball is at the rising action per se, in our country. I just hope that the board would take for consideration also the things that will benefit not just us spectators but also them. Come to think of it, if income is their problem, they would generate more if the three schools are there and if the games would be exciting by the help of adding more guest players. More rallies, more players to be idolized, etc.

UST’s not yet sure of getting MissSuzanne Roces. Miss Suzanne Roces studied high school in USLS so it is but possible that USLS is getting also the services of Miss Suzanne Roces.
Adamson is getting Miss Nerissa Bautista. Lyceum is rumored to get Miss Christina Salak. I don’t have news yet with regards to the guest players of FEU and La Salle. But, I think one of them is interested in getting Miss Danielle Michiko Castaneda of UP. I’m just not sure which team.
Ateneo and San Sebastian are already assured of a Thai guest player. San Sebastian will get the services of Miss Jaroensri Bualee and Ateneo some former National Team Player who is left-handed and can play any position. Miss Lithawat Kesinee will not play because she will focus more on her studies.
