Three La Salle teams namely De La Salle University, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and University of Saint La Salle-Bacolod will be parading in the 10-team league. De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde was included because of being in the Championship with San Sebastian in the NCAA Season 83. University of Saint La Salle-Bacolod meanwhile will be included due to its excellent volleyball program and its relentless performance in the University Games. It is quite understandable why De La Salle University will be included since they’ve already been 3-peat champions in the league.
Another school, University of San Jose-Recoletos has been added to the roster of teams having a number of championships won in Cebu.
Teams who will be back are defending champion University of Santo Tomas, UAAP champion Far Eastern University, NCAA champion and V-League finalist San Sebastian College-Recoletos, WNCAA champion Lyceum of the Philippines University, UAAP finalist Adamson University and UAAP Semifinalist and V-League Third Placer Ateneo de Manila University.
There will be around 5 teams who will be acquiring Thai imports to spice up the league. Each team will only be allowed one guest player after much deliberations.
Opening will be on March 30 at The Arena. There is no schedule yet but it is said that it is possible that San Sebastian will meet Adamson in the opening game and the much-awaited Ateneo vs UST in the main event slated at 4 PM.

i agree…, suzanne roces is more than an asset as compare as to de leon, afterall, UST has already two reliable and good setters, and they just have to train these two setter where on the other hand, roces will be contributing a lot with regards to attacking and blocking. she has already proven herself, and i must say that she’s one of the reasons why UST got the championship title for two consecutive seasons! suzanne really blends well to the strategies, offenses and defenses of UST, so it would just be a wiser decision if UST would choose her over de leon as their guest player. You can’t blame the La Salle Schools if they’re very strong volleyball competitors.. And besides, it’s not all for DLSU-M.. CSB and USLS are very different La Salle Schools, each has its own glory story..

No. After much deliberation, the V-League has decided that TEAMS can ONLY HAVE ONE GUEST PLAYER due to budget shortage of some teams.

Yes, this is confirmed and offical. It is official that only one guest player will be allowed per team. However, that team can change guest players during the season but come Semi-Finals, there will be no changing of guest players.

I heard that FEU is trying to get the services of Lithawat Kesinee, formerly of Ateneo since Ateneo’s getting no other than former Thailand Team Captain Sangmuang Patcharee. We’ll see soon if these rumors are true.
I believe Jaroensri Bualee will be replaced by another Thai ata.

The Ateneo Lady Eagles have a tradition of having tune-up games before V-League. I believe they will play against teams who are not joining the V-League like PCU, UP, etc. Last season, they played against PCU, PUP and UE with Kesinee. Try to ask some of their players, since this can be a gauge of how strong Ateneo will be in the coming games.

I’m beginning to understand now why the Board decided to allow just 1 guest player (either Thai or Pinay), ASSUMING this is true. I think this is to ensure a more or less level playing field especially there are new teams from the Visayas region playing for the first time.
Personally, I would have preferred the two-import system so as to add more drama and spice to the games. Anyway, wag na demanding, masyado hehe. Sana next conference.
Like I said, budget is one big problem of the board. Only a few teams can afford two guest players. In fact, only few teams can even afford a Thai. Many teams have expressed such request but the shortage of budget is costing them to not aqcuire one.

This is a good idea although I’d rather that we hold an Americas vs Europe cup since let’s admit it, only a number of Asian players are that tall and can match up with the power of the European teams. Heck, only China and Japan can only make it. As for Americas, there are a lot since USA is very much improving as well as Puerto Rico and Canada. Of course, traditional powerhouses Cuba and Brazil will be there.
Kaya nga I want Asia v. Europe/America para mandatory na may kukunin kahit isang Pinay player kasi sa atin ang venue. hehe

the country’s indoor volleyball scene is quite ok now, meron na tyong semi-pro league na regular nating napapanood almost twice a year, sana makapag-explore na ang v-league in the near future, yung southeast asian invitatiuonal is a good start, kaya lang up to now, hindi pa iti nauulit, sana maging regular na din ito kahit every two years until our filipino talents are honed enough to give them a good chance in an asian championship…
sana din, hindi maiwan ang men’s volleyball, siguro pwede ding gawin ito ng v league, kahit 6 teams lang siguro na double round robin, ang misconception lang kasi ng marami na hindi exciting ang men’s, sa totoo lang, this is quite true lalo na kung hindi gaanong magaling ang pag-dig para makuha ang spikes, but noong uaap men’s finals game 3, we saw how exciting it was, long rallies are seen because both ust and feu showed that their digging department is effective…

i dont watch PBA,that sport’s too masculine for me,lots of pushing and brawling and passing the ball all around the court,and dribbling the ball as you walk,why cant you just run with the ball like in football and then shoot..just cant undertand the whole fun in that sport..

Magbenta na kayo ng tickets na pwede gamitin for the entire conference para di na kami mahirapan bumili every game.

pangit yun,kasi ang mangyayari,magproproduce sila ng tiket ng eksakto dun sa capacity ng Dome,eh kung di naman pumunta yung mga bumili,hindi makapasok ung mga ibang gustung manuod kasi inaanticipate parin ng gaurd na darating ung mga nakareserve ng seats.gets ba?basta,magcacause ng commotion yun..
Siyempre di naman full capacity ibebenta nila.
I hope FEU will really do good in the VLEAGUE…Michelle Carolino will surely contribute alot for the team… I will be more impressed if the winning team for this season is an all Filipino players just like last season… UST won even without imported player.

i somehow agree to what you had pointed out, i mean if UST defeated such powerhouse teams with a thai import, like Ateneo and San Sebastian last conference of the league, there’s also a big possiblity that it would happen again, and mind you guys, i am not only pertaining to UST here,as well as to the other teams which has no thai imports entry this conference, yet they do have a solid and powerful line up…(”,)!
I thought Areerat will be the guest player for FEU…ng-iba nanaman b? I saw carolino as utility sa wiki…but with “1 guest per team policy” malamang c areerat kukunin nila.They really need her for blocking.
i think FEU will choose Michelle Carolino instead of Areerat… thats what i heard,,, michelle can also block and can leap high and her hang time is amazing which is why she is good in attacking and in blocking also.

congrats to ateneo for winning their 1st match against the lyceum team in season 5 shakeys v league, get wel soon bea pascual youre services is badly needed by youre team specially in blocking department. very spectacular and exciting to watch ang season 5 shakeys v league opening ngayun kasi there a re lots of new pretty face this season fron NCAA team and from visayas and of course magagaling at relentless din sila maglaro ng volleyball. kaya watch out dude
