San Sebastian College steamrolled past the competition in the just completed NCAA Beach Volleyball tournament to win the championship by defeating St. Benilde in the finals 21-10, 21-13 in La Salle Greenhills.
Finishing the competition with an unblemished 7-0 record, Lou Ann Latigay and Margarita Pepito took home the trophy (and some gifts from Active White) as SSC-R continues to dominate NCAA volleyball.

I wish there will be an exhibition match between the UAAP and NCAA women’s beach volleyball champs. I want to see who is really the queens of the beach volleyball….. What do you think of the idea?

I *was* working on the idea… spoke with coach roger of ssc and coach kidd of feu.. and they both told me that i’d have to go throught the eye of a needle to get permission since its ncaa vs uaap.
I know lou, marge, shaira and wendy. ok cla dun, but again, the paperwork involved alone will kill anyone. hehe
best we wait for nestea beach volleyball, feu will participate, im not sure about baste, though.

It will be better if nestea could sponsor a champion’s league of beach volleyball from different schools nationwide. Whoever wins will be crowned the king and queen of the beach. This can be the start of a semi-professional league of beach volleyball in the near future. Nestea have been sponsoring beach volleyball for almost 16-17 years, I think it’s about time for them to diversify by creating a champion’s league or a semi-professional league to let the sport grow, just like what shakey’s had done to the indoor volleyball.

actually, they do. they field participants all over the country.

you’ll see some notable names here from familiar school like FEU, UST, SSC-R.
beach volleyball is more of a short-run tournament, rather than a long term competition like the v-league. the games are shorter, the scene is more of a party atmosphere and (most importantly) there is a considerable injury risk compared to indoor volleyball.
