UAAP Volleyball play-off games this Wednesday (February 13, 2008)

Check out the latest UAAP Volleyball Team Standings. After 2 rounds of volleyball action during the Eliminations, we now have the Final Four. At least we know who are the top four teams for Men’s and Women’s UAAP Volleyball. But since we have some teams that are tied in the rankings, play-off games are necessary to determine the final rankings as required by UAAP rules. Here are the play-off games to be held this Wednesday:

Although specific rankings can be determined via Points Ratio, the UAAP rulebook requires a play-off match. So there will be 2 play-off games this Wednesday. Venue will be at the Blue Eagle Gym. To be televised on Studio23 (I think).

  • 2PM - Women’s Volleyball: UST vs. FEU (Battle for No.2 and No.3)
  • 4PM - Men’s Volleyball: UST vs.FEU (Battle for No.1 and No.2)

The UAAP Volleyball semi-final round will start on February 17, 2008 (Sunday). No definite venue yet. It will either be in The Arena, San Juan or in Rizal Coliseum, Manila. Where do you guys prefer?

You can leave a response to this post, or trackback from your own site.

GO UST! BEAT FEU!

[Reply]

Go USTe!(”,)1

[Reply]

the chances are high. I saw how the Tigresses played last Sunday and damn…kahit sa serves talaga ang tindi.

If UST wins sa playoffs, I’m sure they’ll have an easy time in the finals. Mga 1 hour per game lang. :D Lady Falcons should really improve on blocking and step up on their floor defense (kahit na forte nila yun). Best of luck to all!

[Reply]

what a very exciting games ahead…, sana wednesday na!eheheheh
Go USTe!(”,)!

@Rieze::

waa.. so super laki tlga ng improvement? kasi ung sa game nila nung feu before. okay sabihin na natin, medyo weak ang UST don. sa tingin mo kaya may possiblity na sa match ulit ng FEU and UST ngayon, mananalo na kaya ang tigresses?. . waa! sana.. :D diba?

[Reply]

Bakit naman first game pa sila.

Volleyball is all about the women. This sport became popular because of the them.
With all due respect for the males who are playing the game. UAAP is about Men’s basketball and women’s volleyball. The sport became popular because of the female gender.

There is no other sport that the ladies can consider as their own. Both genders are allowed to play the game. But volleyball is really the sport of the women.
It’s the same with basketball, both genders play the game but basketball is the sport of the male gender.

If volleyball has a gender it would be female.

Sayang.

[Reply]

“feu” will win, especially nandyan si “semana” hindi papayag yun na sa last playing year nya ay talo sha, kahit siguru mabali ang shoulders nun sa pagpalo gagawin nun maipanalo lang,go feu, pakita nyung wit is better than height…heheheh

sana feu ateneo sa finals!!hehheheh

[Reply]

With all due respect to the males that are playing the game. I admire you for the love of the sport and may you be able to contribute in the development of the sport in our country.Like the coaches of other schools.

Pero women’s volleyball talaga inaabangan. It’s really their sport.
So sana maging main game sila hehe.

[Reply]

To kalwonder:

It seems your just a fan who doesn’t play the game of volleyball. I do agree that volleyball is popular with the female gender, while basketball to the male gender. But if you want to see real volleyball action nothing compares to men’s volleyball. You will appreciate all the plays, blocking, digs, and service. The offense and defense are far more better than with the women’s. If there were no pretty players in the UAAP women’s volleyball, will you watch? kung mukha sila lalaki pero magaling maglaro, papanourin ba ng mga tao at ipapalabas ba sa tv? FYI, marami na magaganda babae at magagaling naglaro noon kaysa ngayon. Naging sikat sila dahil sa V - league at UAAP, o dahil pinagkakakitaan.

[Reply]

kakainis nga first game. may pasok ako nun!! waaah. .5pm pa labas ko. XD haha

charo I think is very young really to be working after her season in uaap.I think she should enjoy at the penacle of the sports shes into, shes now very popular in womens volleyble in this era now, she should grab every opportunity at hand, she could earn more from indorsement and commercials, she can even help the Philippine Nat’l Team elevate on the top in womens volleyball asia. Working after graduation can wait, but being a volleyballplayer while you were still young was i think a experience and adventure for once in a lifetime and a rare opportunity for a person to achieve. So to Miss charo Soriano-we,your fans are looking forward to see you play in the future after your graduation, you make us happy and interested in watching volleyball live and even in our tv sets, we hope to see you soon in v-league conference next year or even in 2010, we enjoy watching you in the court and tv interviews you had for the past couple of months. Youre pretty, lovable, smart and nice person and we hope that you will stay that way either, more power to you and to ur volleyball career, May God blessed you always,we youre fans loves you very much gud luck charo soriano

go uste… kaya nio yan ang feu.. roar tigers..

[Reply]

I think there’s a different scenario in Volleyball… Dahil unpredictable ang length of time ng volleyball games, they put the main event at 2pm slot because there is a possibility for the 4pm scheduled game to be cut on-air if it will reach beyond 6pm… However, kung 2pm yung schedule walang chance na maputol yung coverage for the game, maliban na lang kung aabot ng more than 4 hours yung game, which is so impossible…

[Reply]

The adoration of the public is with the women’s volleyball.

New volleyball fan nga lang talaga ako.

[Reply]

We should be thankful sa exposure na nakukuha ng sport right now.

Pro we saw the adoration of the public in a certain team.

[Reply]

Try to watch the men’s volleyball game this coming Wednesday after the women’s game. Try to compare it and you will know the difference.

[Reply]

[Reply]

go UST!!!talunin niyo FEU!!!kinakain ng mga TIGERS ang mga TAMARAWS!!!GO USTE!!!!!

[Reply]

Coach August Sta. Maria said it all last Sunday before the UST-Adamson duel, the Lady Tigresses are at there best when their backs are on the wall, reminiscent of what they did in the Shakey’s V-League a couple of months ago.

It just shows the character of the Tigresses that when they’re smiling, they are on top of their game.

But give credit to the Lady Falcons, they just lacked the height factor, as their attackers were no match to the blocking and defense of their tormentors.

Its going to be rough sailing though for UST. Whoever wins the playoff this coming Wednesday will have the twice to beat advantage in the Final Four.

But as they say, the Tigresses will be ready, even if their backs are on the wall.

GO UST! ROCK AND ROAR!!!

bakit ba “feu tamaraws”? endorser ba sila ng tamaraw fx? muka ba silang mga tamaraw?buti pa “feu pandaka pygmea” o kaya “feu tarsiers” sounds nice, hehehhe

[Reply]

i’l kip my fingers crossed for d playoffs… hoping uste wins… sna lng 2nd game yung women..

[Reply]

i hope feu can win this time, i know UST can play very well even in hard, tough times, and under pressure, they need to win this match to prove that they still deserve the championship, but if FEU will going to play and show what they did on their last two matches with the latter, and be even wiser, more quick and smarter, and add more combinations on their attacks, be more excellent in floor defense, and try to block evrytime the opponent is attacking and always have high confidence on their abilities, i think they can still beat ust, and i also think that upto these days FEU is the only team in the UAAP that does have the power to beat UST, and it is proven may times… am crossing my fingers on wednesday warfare…i hope that may favorite team perform well and even better…

am really praying for them to win and am not going to work just to watch the game hehehe… thats how i love my team and thats how i trusted them…

HOPING AND PRAYING FOR THE BEST! SANA, SANA TALGA UST WILL BE ABLE TO PULL THIS ONE THROUGH!!

CONCENTRATION IS THE KEY!! LETS MIND THE GAME! FORGET THE BASHERS!!

GO TIGERS!! LETS ROCK AND ROAR!!!!

[Reply]

The improvement is really there, 4theloveofthegame2, almost reminiscent of how UST played in the finals of the V-League, without Roces! If they keep this up, malaki chance nila na matalo na ang Lady Tams, or at least extend it to five sets. Pero there’s still the contrapello effect. Let’s just watch what’ll happen.

Huge improvement this season. Good luck to all teams!

[Reply]

Sana manalo talaga FEU.
Pero malay natin. 50-50 yan
50% puwedeng makatsamba UST. Hehehe.

Uhm, i’m a volleyball player since elementary. Sa tingin ko lang women are usually into volleyball, but it does not limit the men. We can also do well in volleyball. Besides, it’s a sport so no one should own it. Thus, you should not conclude na volleyball is a sport intended for women.

In the latter part of your comment, i agree that it should be moved in the second game. Mas marami kasi ang makaknood kasi tapos na ang class ng mga ganung oras (prng aq hahahaha). oh well, wla n tau mgagawa it’s their decision…

Tomorrow’s game will be the gauge who will be in the finals, since FEU and UST are just playing for the twice-to-beat incentive given to the team on the 2nd position in the standings. They will meet again after tomorrow, because the number 2 team will face the number 3 team, while ADU will play ADMU. I’m sure that ADU will bag the first spot in the finals, while waiting for the FEU-UST matches.

QUESTION:

CAN UST CONTINUE TO PLAY THE SAME INTENSITY THEY SHOWED IN THE PREVIOUS MATCH TO PULL A WIN OVER FEU? WILL FEU MAKE IT 3 IN A ROW OVER UST?

Come out and support your team! Enjoy a nerve wrecking and exciting game of volleyball…..

Up close with FEU volleyball star Rachel Anne Daquis
Most fans probably think college athletes are the type who would rush out with their barkada to go on a gimikL in between training sessions and games. Not Rachel Anne Daquis. The 20-year-old star of the Far Eastern University women’s volleyball team would rather stay in the comfort of her own home and sleep.

“Pag hindi ko na kaya dahil pagod sa training or sa game, ang gusto ko eh matulog na lang at magpahinga,” Daquis said in a recent interview with GMANews.TV.

If she does go out, the fourth year Business Management student would to shop: “Kung may time rin naman, mas gusto eh ang mag shopping.”

Or else she would travel all the way to be to Boracay to enjoy its white sand beach.

As with most athletes, she has no vices.

“I don’t drink, I don’t smoke,” Daquis said. “I do go out sometimes with my friends, pero kung may kasama or bantay lang kami.”

Daquis, however, breaks the stereotype of the college athlete as a bonehead.

“Ang akala nila sa athletes, walang utak,” she said. “Hindi nila alam pinaghihirapan din naming ang nakukuha naming incentives sa school. Minsan kasi as athletes nahihirapan din kami, napapagod. Paminsan pagkatapos ng training ang gusto ko eh ang matulog na lang. Pag higa ko, hindi ko na kaya tumayo. Sobrang hirap ng training namin. Minsan pag hindi ko na kaya pumasok, kakausapin ko professors ko just to let them know (about my situation).”

Road to FEU

Daquis, a native of Taytay, Rizal, first went with her mother to the University of Santo Tomas in Manila in the summer of 2004 hoping to get the chance to play for its varsity volleyball squad. The 5-foot-9 Daquis played junior volleyball at the Juan Sumulong Memorial High School in Taytay also as an open and center spiker.

But as luck would have it, she didn’t get a chance to show off her skills as head coach Augusto Sta. Maria and the team were in the province participating in a volleyball meet.

“Kasama ko ang mother ko at nagpunta kami sa UST pero nung time na iyun wala kaming naabutan dun at nasa province daw sila,” Daquis recalled. “May nagsabi samin na bumalik na lang daw kami. Nabanggit pa nga nga ng nakausap namin na may chance ako makuha kasi matangkad ako.”

So Daquis and her mother went instead to FEU for a try-out for its women’s volleyball team, which admitted her. Daquis is now on her fourth year with the Lady Tamaraws as an open and middle spiker.

“I was given a chance to play for them that’s why I’m here,” she said.

Aside from playing varsity volleyball in high school, Daquis also moonlighted as a ramp model and endorser of Nike and other clothing lines.

Daquis, the oldest of three children, also said that she acts as a big sister to some of her team mates who are currently in their rookie and sophomore years.

“I act as a big sister to my teammates,” she said. “Yung way naman eh magkaka-level kami hindi yung para ako ang senior. Ako yung type na malambing sa kanila.”

Rivals in the UAAP

FEU has the most UAAP women’s volleyball titles at 28. UST comes in second with 14 titles.

Ironically, it’s UST, her first choice of school, that Daquis considers the biggest stumbling block of the Lady Tamaraws in their quest to win back the UAAP women’s volleyball crown.

The other strong teams for her are Adamson, De La Salle, and Ateneo.

“Actually, most of the teams in the UAAP are very competitive that’s why hindi kami gaano nagre-relax (in every game),” Daquis said. “The games are also unpredictable. Kung dati madali mo ma-predict kung sino ang mananalo, ngayon hindi na. Sa game naman kasi, kung sino rin ang condition, kung sino prepared ang body at mind, yun ang may chance manalo. Kahit anong galing ng team kung di rin condition katawan sa laro, wala rin iyun.”

She herself has had the experience of being out of condition.

Last year, during the second conference of the Shakey’s V-League she sprained her anke. While attempting to spike a ball, she accidentally stepped on the foot of one of her teammates on the way down, twisting her left ankle.

That’s one of the things her fans lilke about her – the way she jumps whenever she goes for a spike. “Parang yun kasi ang mark ko sa volleyball. Trademark na wala ng ibang gumagawa,” she said.

But since getting the ankle sprain, she has had to go easy on that a trademark jump.

“Yung na injure ako, ang laki ng sama ng loob ko,” she said. “Yung pinaghirapan ko, training ko nawala lahat. Yung expectation ko sa sarili ko hindi naging 100 percent dahil sa injury. Sana by next year, things will change for me.”

To get back into fighting form, Daquis had to endure two months of therapy at the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) headquarters in Manila. She said despite the therapy, her injury has not yet fully healed even, though she’s been playing well in her team’s recent matches.

But she’s not satisfied.

“Sinasabi ng mga tao na sprain lag yan, na kaya mo bumalik,” she said. “Nung naka-recover na ang paa ko, nag training na ako, pero hindi pa bumalik ang laro ko. Ang laki ng tinaba, at masakit.pa din. Para maiwasan ma aggravate ang injury, naglalagay ako ng tape support.”

Daquis, won the UAAP award as Best Server in 2006, is also troubled by back pains during practices and games. It’s only the will to win, she said, that makes the pain go away.

Possible stint with the Philippine team

Daquis denied rumors that she refused to play for the Philippine women’s volleyball team. The rumors started because she failed to attend the practice sessions run by national head coach August Sta. Maria at the UST gym.

“Actually, kinuha ako ni coach Sta. Maria pero hindi ako pumayag kasi ang training namin sa FEU 3 to 6 p.m. Tapos sa Philippine team, 6 to 9 p.m.,” she said. “Tapos sa umaga, may klase ako. Baka mamatay naman ako nun. Sabi rin ng coach ko makakapaghintay naman yan. Ako din ang mahihirapan kasi kay coach August, bawal din ang mag-absent.”

Bur right after the UAAP season, she might join the team’s practices.

She added that aside from graduating in college, one of her goals is to give FEU another volleyball crown. Winning an individual award will also be a welcome development.

“Ang goal ko talaga eh ang makapag-tapos ng pag-aaral,” she said. “Pero siyempre ang isa pang goal ko eh ang mabigyan ng korona ang FEU.”

Daquis also welcomed the idea of having a semi-pro league for the women’s volleyball patterned after the Philippine Basketball League (PBL).

Not ‘mataray’

Daquis denied being unapproachable, mataray, because of the way she looks.

“Wala naman nagbago sa akin,” she said. “May mga tao kasi na insecure na minsan titignan lang ang hitsura ng tao pero hindi ka naman kilala at magbibigay na sila ng judgment sayo. Ibang-iba ang personalty ko sa hitsura ko. Akala nila mahilig ako sa gimik, sosyalan, pero ang gusto ko lang nagpapatawa at pasayahin mga tao. May pagka-kenkoy din kasi ako.”

She is, however, wary of getting too friendly with just anyone, because they might turn out to be stalkers.

“Madaming stalkers,” she said. “Nakakatakot sila. During the game, may nagpapaabot ng flowers or may kakausap sakin. Okey lang naman at fans pero sometimes, iba na ang boses nila. But despite that, pinapakita ko pa rin na friendly ako kasi madaming hindi nakakakilala sa ‘kin at akala na mataray ako.”

Among the UAAP players from other teams she’s close to are UST players Denise Tan and Angeli Tabaquero.

“Si Denise at Angge, okey naman sila sakin,” Daquis said.

She’d rather play than watch

Daquis is one of those athletes who’d rather play than just watch.

“I like playing volleyball but I’m not an avid watcher of international tournaments,” she said. “May mga gusto ako international players, pero hanggang dun lang.”

But she does have some observations on the state of Philippine volleyball.

“Masyadong bata kasi ang mga players natin,” she said. “Yung mga dating naglaro sa 2005 SEA Games masyado pang bata so kailangan pa ng more international exposure.”

Daquis herself may get international exposure of a slightly different sort.

Her mother is already a citizen of Germany, where she lives in Hanover. And Daquis, along with the rest of family, my soon migrate.

“Actually, pwede na akong magtapos this coming October,” she said. “Hinihintay na kami ng mom ko sa Germany. Ako lang talaga ang gusto mag stay pa dito sa bansa.”

Which is undoubtedly a relief to her fans. - GMANews.TV

wow…. my team won again…they did it again, they outplayed ust…wow, sayang lang kasi talo in the first set, although feu came out strong pero humina on the later part but it was still very exciting kasi 26-28 with ust winning the first round. after that exciting round the next three set was a demolition…with feu not giving ust a chance to catch up…pero yung excitement na nagawa ng game nato grabe…kawawa naman si tabaquero at denis tan, nafacial although nagsorry naman si Daquis, and i can see it that she felt sorry and worried… sana maulit muli hehehe…. galing ng team ko three straight match up against ust naipanalo nila….next game will be feu against adu for placing #1 and #2 spot, ust will sit on the 3rd spot…i hope feu will win this time against adu, if feu will win this they will go against the #4 team admu and i think they can do it well… para adu vs ust…whoever wins will meet up the #1 team for the championship… may pag asa pa ang uste for the championships…lahat possible hehehe…. both feu and adu have the twice to beat advantage already…yipey,,,am so happy hehehe….malapit na…sana mag champion na ang feu this time around para champion sa mens at womens,,,hehehe,,, galing talaga ng feu,,, they all came out strong,,,once again semana did a very excellent job in setting, dunking, attaking and even in digs…wow,,, th best all around player…she distributed well all her sets,,, earlier i was able to witness the best semana…grabe… Daquis and Morada also played a very good job…Daquis grabe, maganda na at galing pa,,, abanto also did a good job in helping wendy ann… Cafranca perform her job in the middle very well… ulitin niyo pa….

Hello Solid-FEU:

I think FEU and UST na mag-meet sa final four, FEU having the twice to beat advantage.

Congrats sa FEU. No team has ever beaten UST three consecutive games (if my memory serves me right) so a four game winning streak against UST is even harder.

Sunday’s game will be a do or die game for UST. UST’s mettle and the so-called championship experience will be put to test once more.

For FEU, this is their perfect chance to avenge last year’s loss.

Sayang, I didn’t get to see the action on and off the court.

[Reply]

Wait, I’m confused.
How come may game pa Adamson and FEU to determine No. 1 spot? I thought nakuha na yun ng Adamson by virtue of superior quotient?

If that’s the case, pwede pa ngang mag FEU-UST finals (which to me is more exciting :))

Morada- Galing galing mo talaga!

The errors of Abanto helped UST to score hehe…. dami nga siya errors pero she helped alot most especially setting up for Semana, shes the only one who can give a very good set to her. Everyone in the team made a very remarkable job earlier…. grabe ang galing…i hope they can do more of what they did earlier to ADU, para matalo na rin nila… sayang din kasi kung mananalo sila ADMU ang makakalaban nila at aminin natin na mas madali para sa kanila na talunin ang ADMU kesa UST,,, ADU should perform well or else kung ang uste ang makakalaban nila tiyak mahihirapan sila… cant hardly wait on sundays match ups hehehe….

FEU will face ADU for placing the #1 and #2 position but both teams are already enjoying the twice to beat advantage…pwede pang humabol ang ust…

love my team…FEU….hehehe

@ joy ganda : Pls. be fair… Yeah! Rachelle Anne Daquis is invited to be a part of RP Team but she rejected it because she is prioritizing her studies… Gusto na niya makagraduate at the age of 20… I love Ging Balse as a player… Pero it’s so disappointing na mas una pa siyang gagagraduate sa playing years sa UAAP kesa sa Bachelor’s Degree niya… She’s about to turn 25… Peace out :)

Outside UST nakikita kong equipped with individual talent is FEU.
Daquis’ skills are exceptional. The taller you are the slower your lateral movement and the lower your leaping ability is. But Rachelle Anne Daquis is a rare talent. She plays like a 5 ft player like the girls of UST. She is one of the gem in Philippine volleyball. Morada also has excellent vertical leap. These two I believe have the exceptional skills.
Semana is a good player because of her experience and her intelligent approach to game.

Volleyball is a teamsport. It’s the same with other teamsport like basketball.
Having the best individual talent doesn’t mean having the best team.

Formation of a national team is not based on statistics, awards, etc.
It is based on individual talent.

I’ve heard Rachelle Anne Daquis is included.

[Reply]

Mga nabasa kong posts sa TSKTSK-EXCHANGE.COM :)

From a certain xerex:
2. Morada and Taganas (who I believe is only 3 feet tall) should stop acting as if they are the top diggers of the league. Everytime they successfully dig a tough spike from Bernal, Balse, and Tabquero they add actions that reveal the quality of their court demeanor. You can’t find actions like those among seasoned volleyball players. Sana naman huwag nilang parisan ang pagmumukha nila with such unsightly “king kongish” court behavior.

From a certain clej naman:
Even with the presence of handkerchief waving FEU El Shaddai Group. este, PEP squad pala with matching drums, they never “outcheer” us.

Heto lang masasabi ko sa inyo:

GROW UP.
At eto pa: BELAT :)

[Reply]

Daquis is really a good player in front line, but why is always replaced by the libero whenever she is at the back line after serving? Because she has poor passing and digging skills, she even tried to make back line attack but her spike hit nothing but the net. If she wants to be a better player, she must start to improve her basic skills, such as passing/receiving and digging, if she wants to be in the national team or be the UAAP MVP.

I heard some anecdotes that she was a bench player in her junior school volleyball team. When she arrived in the FEU team, that was the time she was taught to proper and scientific way of playing volleyball by coach kidd two years ago. Maybe you are just an avid fan of her, but she is not the best outside hitter in UAAP nor the FEU. A lot of former UAAP players and spectators who are understand the game very well knows that, ” Hindi siya kalakasan” in volleyball lingo. I put my bet on Gonzales, Morada, semana, and abanto; these are really homegrown talents and the skills are true volleybelles. Have you seen rachel sprawl or go after check balls? She is only for blocking and attacking purposes only. To be included and be called a NATIONAL PLAYER, you should possess all the skills in volleyball, not only blocking and spiking. You should pass the test above the rests. If she is included in the national team, then, the national team will be bunch of beautiful players with a true form of volleyball player. To play internationally, you should be the best of the bests in our country. There are a lot of players who plays better than her.

How should select our players to the RP team? by mere feeling that she has the talent? We should not look at the stats, kung ganyan pala eh…..bata-bata system na lang.

Philippine volleyball gem? Bakit?

This is my opinion, I hope that you will take it in a positive way.

Am sorry RMA but I don’t agree with you… when we say rare talent, its one in a million,,, She has a different approach in hitting the ball, she have her style, She might not be a very hard attacker, but she earns points and helped the team and that you cant see in the other teams. What matters most in volleyball is you know how to convert every ball you receive into points, “yun ang totoong hinog na pagdating sa laro, ang iba nga malakas at nasa magagaling na team kaso hilaw pa eh” yeah we have a lot of powerful hitters but what happened to them??? I hope you will not look only on DAQUIS weak points… yesterday she did great. I saw how she plays the past year and she is progressive… and please note that DAQUIS hasn’t played yet for the RP TEAM and don’t blame her why the RP Team didn’t won in the past SEA GAMES. You cant even blame them even if they loss, ang hirap kaya… this are my points also…hehehe

[Reply]

please be fair rma and dont be so mean… if thats what you observed then keep it within you only, if DAQUIS will be able to read this she will be hurt. what will you feel if someone will say NEGA to your favorite player? i think you too will be affected… lets not do this things here… it is more wonderful if you praise your team for what they did, even if they loss, rather than giving them unlikable words. ok?? hehehe

[Reply]

to joy gandah…. please and please think first before saying something…ok??? mas importante kasi ang UAAP kesa Shakeys V league, ok lang kasi kng matalo,,, nothing to lose pero kung UAAP, legendary ang labas at history ang gift sayo…nakuha mo????

to rma052172 :

Hindi ako expert sa volleyball.
Hindi rin ako avid fan. I am becoming pa lang hehe.

I’m speaking of talent not the digging, passing, etc.) bihira talaga yung katulad niya.
Adamson. Yun, alam nila yung paggamit ng husto sa fundamentals digging, passing, etc. pero they are lacking in individual talent compare to other players.

Ok lang yun,
Yan naman ang opinion ko.

[Reply]

But I have confidence on the coaches, experts, and officials who are responsible in organizing the national team in volleyball.
I’m sure that’s the same theorey din ang inaapply sa volleyball.

She has the rare talent pa rin para sa akin

To Solid_FEU:

I do appreciate the kind of game Rachel Anne Daquis as the primary open spiker of the FEU team. She is really part of their team offense. The negative points that I mentioned here, are the skills she must improve to be a better player if she plans to play longer for FEU, and/or for the RP team. I said, it was ANECDOTES only I heard before she entered to the FEU team. The trainings of FEU improved her a lot as a volleyball player. Likewise, she is a rare talent as you mentioned. Some people thinks she is the best on their own standard. For me, who have been playing the game for years and had seen players played better, I look it otherwise…..

If she is your favorite player, I will not argue with that. But she will not be a best player or the highest pointer for the team in every game, if wasn’t for the great digs or passes by her teammates done and the setting of semana to her. If she doesn’t have semana or abanto as setters, do you think she can have good attacks converted to points?—- VOLLEYBALL is a game of six players that must play cohesively and cooperatively, including the heart and mind, to win the game . If one of them doesn’t want to win, even the 5 remaining players wants to win, the team will loose even you have a rarest talent and best players in the land. All boils down to ATTITUDE in the court for a team to win a game. That is the reason why FEU failed to snatch a win over ADU. Now, if your favorite player, can bring it on this coming Sunday against ADU and continues to demonstrate the kind of game she displayed against UST. FEU will prevail, and I am wrong about her.

I hope she can prove me wrong, that she can really dig and pass the ball; if she will stay longer at the back line for defense rather replaced by the libero…. This I want to see…

This is my own opinion without intention to hurt other’s feelings….

[Reply]

I’ve noticed that inilabas na naman si Tan dun sa game, noh? nung UST vs. AdU, she played all the way. I guess there’s no way you can beat a 6-2.

Ang bilis nung men’s game! I’m sure champion na FEU dun. I’m not really sure how UST MVT defeated the other teams…they really didn’t deliver IMO. Or masyado lang talagang matangkad ung FEU kaya naboblock lahat.

[Reply]

to RMA, i hope DAQUIS will really prove you wrong this sunday, in volleyball you have your own place and plays your own role kaya nga may 1 to 6 spots inside the court and you are labeled with your own positioning inside the court, diba may open spiker, middle hitter, may setter, libero, may utility and etc? sa volleyball kasi you have to specialize one of those mentioned roles, and DAQUIS is really an open attacker/spiker and based on the statistics shes even one of the top ten diggers and receivers.. How come nasabi mo na shes not good on those departments??? what was your basis??? the only thing that she cant do and change right now is the way on how she approaches when she is about to hit a ball.i dont think that DAQUIS cant hit good kung di si semana o abanto ang nagseset…

I also dont think that coach August will ever invite DAQUIS to join the RP TEAM if he wasnt able to notice the potentials of DAQUIS, and dont tell me na may palakasan system… at dahil sikat at kilala si DAQUIS???

and one thing more, ibabalik ko sayo yung mga napansin mo, bernal balse and tabaquero flexible ba sila???versatile ba??? can they set well??? dig well??? and receive well??? yeah they can do those but not impressive and sometime they also commit an error with those just like DAQUIS, diba nga nagsisihan pa sila at pinapasa nila kagad sa iba ang mali whenever they committed an error??? sabi mo game of six, nasa UST ba yun??? they wanted to win pero natalo sila, ibig sabihin may isa sa kanila na ayaw manalo??? come on, accept the fact that they really loss their prowess this season and FEU players really stepped up and did well in the last three match up against UST..

at nung sa FEU-ADU naman, analysis ko kung bakit natatalo sila dun, kasi, halos magkakapareha sila sa height, they dont block that well tapos ang bilis pa ng ADU at parang nagrerelax sila maxado, kasi ganito yun pag ADU vs UST, tinatalo ng UST ang ADU sa HEIGHT, they can block all balls coming from ADU which is why they needed to do it over the blockers, di pa kasi nakapag adjust ang ADU on how to outplay UST, pero ang FEU kilala na nila ang UST kaya they made alot of adjustments to score kaya you cant see FEU having nice and sharp attacks pag UST ang kalaban. and since FEU cant block that well pwede nilang itira yung mga forte nila at daanin sa bilis, quick of laguilles and the angela benting hard hits. i hope you can see now why FEU can beat UST and UST can beat ADU and ADu can beat FEU…

Am really hoping that DAQUIS will prove you wrong at isa pa if they will not be able atleast win a set
