How to go to Ateneo Blue Eagle gym to watch UAAP Volleyball

Just so everybody would know, there’s NO entrance fee at the Blue Eagle gym if you’re going to watch UAAP Volleyball during the Elimination rounds at least. Not too many people are watching so only the ringside and upperbox are usually available. Since a lot of you guys have been asking me how to get to the Blue Eagle gym, here’s how:

Of course, the easiest way is to take a cab. Ateneo is along Katipunan Avenue (just before Miriam College if you’re coming from the south). The Blue Eagle gym can easily be spotted once you enter Gate 2 of Ateneo, the main entrance. Just look for the dome-shaped gym with the huge blue eagle logo (which lights up blue at night!). The next best way to get there is by simply taking the LRT (not MRT) and drop off at the Katipunan Station. From there, you can walk or go to the nearest tricycle station along Katipunan.

For people who don’t have a car like me, and does not want to take the much easier LRT method, here’s how to commute your way to the Blue Eagle gym:

  • 1. Find your way to Cubao. You can take the MRT or whatever to get yourself there. From there, you walk up until you reach Aurora Boulevard. In my case, once I get out of Gateway mall (the exit near Nike and Adidas), I turn right then walk all the way up to Mercury Drugstore where all the jeepneys pass by.
  • 2. Ride a jeepney along Aurora Boulevard. You can take a jeep going to either “SSS Village”, “Parang”, or “Cogeo”. Or any jeepney that passes by Katipunan Avenue and Aurora Boulevard intersection. DO NOT ride a jeep going to “Ever” otherwise, you’ll end up in Libis.
  • 3. Drop off along Katipunan Avenue. You pull the string that alerts the jeepney driver to stop!! once you’re under the C5 flyover which means you’re already along Katipunan Avenue. That would be shortly after you pass by PSBA and the LRT Katipunan station. From there, it’s either you walk all the way to the Blue Eagle gym or take a tricycle.
  • 4. Look for the bird!! (No, not Big Bird you silly). If you fancy a 3-5 minute walk, then you just keep on doing so until you arrive at the Ateneo Blue Eagle gym. Look for the huge blue eagle structure that is embedded on one side of the Blue Eagle gym. That’s it.

So there. That’s how you get to the Blue Eagle gym. Hope this helps folks out there who wanted to watch UAAP Volleyball but couldn’t do so because they’re afraid they might get lost going to the venue. See you at the games!

Here’s the game skeds for UAAP Volleyball Men’s and Women’s.

Since there will also be games to be held Rizal Memorial Coliseum and UP CHK Gym, maybe you can also post the directions going to such places :)

@DONYLONE: Madali lang yan, take a cab!!! Hehe. Not familiar how to commute going to Rizal. As for going to UP CHK gym, you can follow steps 1 to 3. Then take a jeepney going to UP somewhere underneath the C5 Katipunan flyover.

@gnija : San ka ba manggagaling? Anyway, regardless of where you will be coming from… Ride the LRT1 ang get off at Vito Cruz Station… from there, lakarin mo na lang

@ gnija : Oh… you may ride the jeepney (either Quiapo, Delta, or Banawe… basta yung may nakalagay na MRT Highway), then get off at MRT Quezon Avenue Station… Ride the MRT fron Quezon Avenue Station, then get off at Taft Avenue Station… MRT Taft Avenue Station is connected to LRT1 EDSA Station… Ride the LRT1 from EDSA Station, then get off at Vito Cruz Station… from there lakarin mo na lang…

Pagbaba mo ng LRT1 (since you’ll go out from the north exit, cross the street… then turn left… When you get to Torre Lorenzo Building, turn right… then walk straight na lang makikita mo na yung Rizal Memorial Coliseum…

I really wish and hope that ateneo will be in the final four this season before charo ends up his school yrs in ateneo and before her playing term expires.SHes been playing with this team for more or less 4 yrs. Charo contributed a lot not only in this team ateneo but also in the uaap womens volleyball as whole ,she is a big factor on why this game is alive and continue to shine this season, this sports is now being been recognize by most of the people, they are starting to watch in their tv homes, even see it live in ateneo gym, volleyball fanatic person started to cheer for their favorite team and players, so charo is one of those player who really helps this sports known and famous in this era now.Charo’s fans also get to noticed/appreciate her sportmanship inside the court, she is a very nice/smart person, she scores/plays relentlessly but yet remain to be a humble person, she also quote” that she want to give something in return/back to ateneo who taught and supported her in one way or another and in many things she accomplish right now. charo really is a model volleyball player right now and nice person to look into. i hope this girl will not stop playing volleyball because she had so many admirers and avid fans outthere who wants to see her playing volleyball inside the court . i also hope that Phil sports commission will create a proffesional volleyball team or philippine volleyball association where bussiness owners/proprietor can indorse their bussiness product and can able to sponsor a team like for example creating womens volleyball for purefoods team, alaska milk volleyball team, san miguel beer volleyball team, and talk and text phone pal volleyball team. This can be achieve and possible thru advetisement and aired product indorsement, where this college player can be given an opportunity to play after their playing terms in colleges and universities expires. Gud Luck to Miss charo soriano and to her volleyball career.
