UPDATE: Just confirmed the latest game results for UAAP Women’s volleyball. If you’re revisiting this post, make sure to refresh or reload your browsers to see the changes. Eventhough FEU, Adamson, and Ateneo all got the same 3-1 record, FEU ranks second due to a higher points ratio. FEU is followed by Adamson, and then Ateneo.

On top of the food chain is University of Santo Tomas with flawless records for both Men’s and Women’s UAAP Volleyball. Based on the game results we have so far, here’s the UAAP Volleyball Season 70 Team Standings:
Men’s Volleyball:
The first round eliminations for the Men’s division has already ended. After 7 days of men’s volleyball action that started last December 1, three teams emerge on top of the rest. The still unbeaten UST (7-0) won all of their games. Winning a total of 21 sets, the Tigers lost only 3 sets from their games against FEU (23-25), UP (24-26), and Adamson (23-25). The no.2 spot belongs to FEU (6-1) who won all their games except the one against UST. Third place belongs to UP (5-2) who lost to UST and FEU.
According to the latest stats, best scorers of the league as of the moment are: Edjet Mabbayad of FEU with a total of 127 points in 7 matches, Andre Joseph Pareja of Ateneo with 97 points, Joseph Michael De Joya of Ateneo with 87 points, Reny John Balse of UST with 80 points. As for team rankings by skills, UST is currently dominating almost all aspects being the best team when it comes to attacking (45.29% success rate), blocking (2.67 successful blocks per set), serving (1.29 service aces per set), digging (2.21 excellent digs per set), and setting (11.75 excellent sets per set). Best team when it comes to receiving is FEU (21.02% efficiency rate).
If the same trend continues moving on to the second round, then UST can easily go for a sweep as long as they continue to play their solid game. Second Round Eliminations for the UAAP Men’s Volleyball will start on January 9, 2008. Assuming UST will make it to the finals, who do you think is the best team to face them: FEU, UP, or Adamson?
Women’s Volleyball:
For the Women’s division, games for the first round eliminations will continue on January 9 of next year. After 4 days of women’s volleyball action, UST continues to remain on top with a flawless record of 4-0. The Lady Tigers are followed by Adamson, FEU, and Ateneo - all having the same record of 3-1. So far, Adamson was the only team who managed to last 5 sets with UST. The Lady Falcons lost by only 2 points in the last and final set: 22-25, 25-27, 25-19, 25-20, 15-13. As for Ateneo, the Lady Tigers defeated them in 4 sets: 24-26, 25-12, 25-21, 25-13.
According to stats, the top 5 best scorers are: Charo Soriano of Ateneo, Mary Jean Balse of UST, Venus Bernal of UST, Irish May Morada of FEU, Jacqueline Alarca of DLSU.
Games to watch out for will be Ateneo vs. Adamson (January 9, 2008 - Wednesday 10am) and UST vs. FEU (January 16, 2008 - Wednesday 2pm to be televised on Studio23). If Ateneo wins over the Lady Falcons, then they’ll be a step closer towards becoming the best contender for the top spot. If FEU beats UST, then that will pave the way for a possible triple-tie of 4-1 for three teams in the standings. How exciting!

to compare ADU and ADMU with UST.. ADAMSON lasted UST in 5 hard-fought sets and were only down by 2 points. what about ATENEO? they were defeated by UST in 4 sets.
also, ADAMSON were able to defeat FEU(3 straight-sets) and DLSU earlier.. and these two teams are top volleyball teams.

I really love this site…just discovered it a few days ago =),glad someone took the iniative to put up a site for volleyball enthusiast like myself. i’m an avid supporter of the ateneo teams both basketball and volleyball. quite happy that the lady eagles are doing better,sana lang charo would get more support from her teamates hindi lang naman pwedeng siya lang ang nagpupuntos ng malaki. the offense would be soo predictable if that happens,im hoping that cara acevedo and patty taganas would be more consistent in helping charo score the kills.

If kayang gisingin ni coach Minerva ang AdU, there’s no way that they can’t beat UST. IMO:
Serafica+Benting=dead UST.
Pero yun nga if nagising lang sila. Ang tagal kasi magwarm-up ng AdU eh. And sana maging confident lang sila. Balse and Bernal are strong attackers, pero not something that good backline defense can handle. At useless na sila pag nagconcentrate ang AdU on blocking. The real threat, katulad ng napoint-out na, is Tabaquero, who is really a smart and unpredictable player, with a variety of attacks. Refreshing, ika nga; nakakapurga na kasi ang quick hits at crossboard hits nina Balse at Bernal…

Hmm, no need to resort to name calling just because other posters disagree with your opinion. Or you happen to disagree with the opinion of other posters. This is a free board where we can all share our opinions in a, hopefully, convivial atmosphere.
Surely, we can disagree in an agreeable manner.
That being said, I think that UST will go all the way this UAAP season. They are the defending UAAP champions and the reigning V-League champions as well.
I think that the ADMU vs. AdU game will be a good barometer for who is the harder foe for UST. And I wouldn’t discount FEU at this time. Not with Rachel Ann Daquis returning.
However, sad as this makes me, I think that the team of my alma mater, UP, will have a very hard time this conference. Regardless of how good Castaneda is.
I kinda wish that the SSC-R Lady Stags are still playing right now. I miss Mary Jane Pepito. Unfortunately, tapos na ang NCAA season.

Yeah. Aside from Adamson, there’s still Ateneo and FEU. The only distance is UST and other teams. I think when it comes to match-ups, Ateneo, Adamson, La Salle and FEU are all at par in terms of skills so it is possible that they will rumble off for that three slots.
I wonder why UP is performing below expectations. They had a bang last year and they just lost one player which is Moran. I was expecting them to contend for the Final Four this year.
Although of course, the season is still young. We might still see a couple of upsets during the eliminations. Well, let’s see.
There are a couple of exciting games this January. There’s the La Salle vs FEU, Ateneo vs Adamson, Ateneo vs FEU, FEU vs UST, of course, the UE vs UP match and NU vs UE. They are exciting believe me.

Hi Reize, yup I graduated from UP, Diliman a few years ago.
And I do love Mary Jane Pepito, as well.
I agree that she is a big part of the SSC-R Lady Stags winning the NCAA champhionship and getting 2nd place in the recent Shakey’s V-League.
In fact, MJ is the only player to win two awards in the recent Shakey’s V-League. She won Best Receiver and also Hustle Player of the Conference
Pero balik tayo sa UAAP, I agree with Ice_Jed na baka makabalik pa ang UP sa standings. Maaga pa naman eh, at baka makasilat sila ng mga panalo. Ayusin lang nila iyung depensa nila at wag sila mawawalan ng kumpiyansa sa sarili.
Sa tinging ko din, may point si Miles Dy. Iyung ADMU, AdU, DLSU and FEU, hindi nagkakalayo sa skill level. It will come down to breaks and who wants it more when those teams go up against each other.
UST lang talaga ang sobrang layo na. As in ibang level na sila. Musta kaya bakasyon nila Maria Angeli Tabaquero at Denise Patricia Tan?

I feel for Ateneo a while ago. They had a terrible game. Everyone was having an off-game even Charo Soriano and Kara Acevedo who scored only 6 points far from their 20 points average. Tapos aside from that, the injury Karla Bello and Bea Pascual had.
I just hope they can recover from this. This is a bad game for them. Whew. 3rd set was the best since they were finally showing up their true game until the injury of Bea Pascual.
Congratulations to Adamson too. They played their game.

Anyway, you guys, FEU swept DLSU in 3 straight sets! I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say na wala sila sa sarili nila in that game. After all, it took the very very very skilled Lady Falcons five sets to put the Lady Spikers in their place. Sad nga lang, because now 2-3 standings nila, which puts them I think in fifth place. i don’t think so Rieze. nagulat talaga ako sa nilaro ng FEU kahapon. sobrang lalakas ng mga palo nila (especially daquis and gonzales the rookie) and the floor defense is there. lasalle just couldn’t do anything about it. i was rooting for dlsu kanina pero i can’t say i got dissapointed that they lost. FEU won convincingly.

siguro nga USters. I was not able to watch the entire game, just the last 2 sets. At tsaka parang nagwarning pa si Daquis dun sa interview niya na they’re gonna see a new FEU…scary. Napnsin ko din na Daquis only had 11 pts but still she clinched the Best Player of the game award. I guess that means excellent ball distribution?

Yep, USTtigers I think UST will face FEU soon. Pero ‘wag ka naman masyadong kampante. If you saw the way FEU was playing, you have to admit that they really improved. And as for DLSU…well never underestimate the spark of a champion team. They’re a very unpredictable team. To quote nga Mozzy Ravena, “When DLSU plays, throw the stats out the window.” That can go either way, meaning DLSU can play really bad or really good. My money’s still on UST, though.
