The November 12 (Monday) sked will be the most exciting match. First match will be Ateneo vs. FEU at 3pm. Ateneo needs to avenge their loss against La Salle by winning their last game. Second match will be UST vs. San Sebastian. Will Bualee and the Lady Stags continue their flawless winning streak? Or will the Lady Tigers succeed to have an ending record of 5-1 to tie it with San Sebastian?

The Shakey’s V-League is an intercollegiate women’s volleyball league in the Philippines formed in 2004 under the a management group led by former PBA commissioner Jun Bernardino and pizza company Shakey’s. Jun Bernandino invited his fellow Ateneo alumni Ricky Palou and Jun Capistrano in the 2nd conference of the 1st season to be included in governing the Shakey’s V-League.

The member teams are from different schools around Metro Manila with UAAP powerhouses University of Santo Tomas, De La Salle University-Manila, Ateneo de Manila University, Far Eastern University, Adamson University; NCAA powerhouses San Sebastian College - Recoletos and Colegio de San Juan de Letran; and, the WNCAA champion Lyceum of the Philippines University. The teams that also participated are another UAAP powerhouse University of the East, another NCAA powerhouse Philippine Christian University, and the Philippine Sports Commission.

The UST Tigresses won the first-ever V-League championship in 2004 defeating the Lady Archers. But the De La Salle-Manila volleybelles have won the last three conferences of the said league defeating their arch-rivals, UST in both conferences of Season 2 and San Sebastian in Season 3, sweeping them both in the Finals of the three conferences.

This year, each member teams are allowed to acquire two reinforcements to bolster their lineup in which they can allow either a former member of a school’s volleyball lineup or anyone outside of it. All Games will be at the San Juan Gym as well as the Semi-Finals and Finals. TV network National Broadcasting Network has signed up as the coveror for this tournament. Games were previously shown on Associated Broadcasting Company and government-owned Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation.
