Justice for Ronnie Borlagdatan

I stumbled upon a news article that goes “Philippine volleyball player slain in Dasmarinas robbery“. According to the reports, two people were killed while five others were wounded when three gunmen barged into the victims’ residence in Das Marinas, Cavite before dawn. One of the victims was 22-year-old Ronnie Borlagdatan, a promising national volleyball player dubbed as MR. MVP. He played for De La Salle Das Marinas.

Ronnnie suffered a severe gunshot wound in the head. He was rushed to the hospital immediately together with the others who were wounded. But Ronnie dies the following day on June 5, 2007. Newspaper reports say that robbery was the primary motive but police are looking at other possible motives. The victims were having a get-together drinking session the night they were attacked.

At that time, Ronnie Borlagdatan was being recruited to be part of the Philippine Men’s Volleyball national team to play for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games in Thailand this December. No suspect has been identified.
