I was surfing the net to look for notable volleyball players who can be featured here at Spikeithard.com blog, when I stumbled upon former Blue Eagle Lady Spiker Alexandra “Alexa” Marie Pijuan who played for Ateneo de Manila University under coach Louie Gepuela.
Alexa Pijuan used to be one of Ateneo’s middle blockers who also specializes in quick plays. Here is Alexa’s ClickTheCity Denizens’ profile:
Alexandra Marie Pijuan…the last name rings a bell. It should evoke qualities possessed by a beauty queen, and this Miss Pijuan fits the bill. But she’s actually more into the sporty and intellectual stuff. As a matter of fact, she is currently taking her MBA at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business after graduating from Ateneo de Manila University only last March. It is her fourth and final year on the Ateneo UAAP Volleyball Team, the main reason she is taking her masters so soon after graduation.
Alexa loves sports. She’s what you call a natural athlete, for besides volleyball, she is into other sports, too, like soccer and basketball. Also, when she’s not training for or playing volleyball, her energy gravitates toward boxing, which she plainly loves. For her, boxing is a really tough but fulfilling workout because you see the results much sooner than working out in a gym. Now there’s a tip from a fitness buff!

[Early bird or night owl]
Night owl for sure. My day doesn’t start until lunchtime. I wake up late because I sleep late. My MBA classes and team practices are at night so I usually get home late.
[Homebody, partyer, or someone in the middle]
I’d like to think I’m someone in the middle. I love going out, drinking and partying but I also enjoy just chillin’ at my house or at a friend’s and just watch DVDs or talk. I can be the girl you see at a club dancing with a beer in one hand or be the girl sitting in a couch with a cup of coffee and a good book.
[My chill-out activity after a long day]
Power Plant is the closest place to do anything after class although Greenbelt is our second choice. The best way for me to unwind would be to have a few drinks after class OR watch a hilarious no-brainer movie.
[My usual Friday gimik]
I used to go to Greenbelt 2 every Friday with friends but now, it depends on everyone’s (my friends’ or boyfriend’s) schedule and mood. Our gimiks are either in the Makati or Pasig area.
[My fave quick weekend getaway]
If I have the time to go on a quick weekend getaway, since I have games every Sunday, I would pick La Union for surfing since I’ve been waiting for a chance to really learn; or if I was in the mood for a more relaxing getaway, I would pick Subic.
[My fave restaurant/s]
For the best buffet, although really pricy, I pick Circles at Shangri-La Makati. Sugi is a family favorite for Japanese food. My other favorites are Italianni’s, Cibo, Pepato, Cena or any other restaurant that serves good Italian and Mediterranean food. Bubba Gump and Good Earth are also faves of mine and my boyfriend’s.
[My fave bar/club]
Can’t really say I have a favorite at the moment, but I love the drinks at Cena. On Fridays we go to different bars and restaurants like Pier 1 at The Fort for drinks, drinks and more drinks or Racks for dancing or Phi at Metrowalk for a steady ambiance and drinks.
[My fave sports activity and facility]
I play volleyball for my school so I train in Ateneo and have weekly games at the University of the Philippines gym. Boxing, I take classes at the Navy Boxing Academy at Fort Bonifacio. I like it there because there’s no special treatment and you get a Navy trainer who pushes you to your limits. It’s a great workout because you get to do cardio while strengthening your arms with all the punches and there’s a really good abdominal workout in the end.
[My fave hole-in-the-wall]
That special place is in Boracay island, it’s this small Mexican restaurant somewhere in station 1, I believe it’s called Manana. Every time I go to Boracay, I make it a point to eat there at least once because they have the best Mexican food.
[The local vacation spot I recommend]
Definitely Boracay! Need I say more?!
[My dream destination in the Philippines]
Amanpulo! I would like to see for myself what makes this one of the best and exclusive vacation spots in our country.

honestly, i do not even know this girl, i don’t see her playing in the uaap… but according to you guys, shes good… siguro hindi nio naman siya ku2nan as notable player if shes not good, dba… anyways can you please post manilla santos or rachell anne daquis… these two girls are hot, and if you’re not a volleyball fan, probably you’ll asked your self if this girls know how to play volleyball… =)

i agree to your appeal… santos and daquis, they’re a hit to me. but i would also want to know more of the silent workers (the likes of de vanadera of san sebastian). also the past players who i missed in the 1st conference (like con-con legazpi of lyceum). pardon me, i might have misunderstood the term notable. just how notable is notable? =)
im from a relatively remote province but i came to know the league on its 2nd season. then on, i always hoped for a site that would be dedicated to it for i loved watching the games on tv but i wanted to know more about the players. (sabi ko nga sa sarili ko na makapunta lang ako ng maynila at the league is on, i’ll definitely watch it.) and im glad its already here. thanks to the developers!
