V-League semis: La Salle vs. UST knockout match

Okay. I wasn’t able to watch it live this time. The La Salle vs UST semis match was televised the day after the game on June 30 at NBN Channel 4, 2pm. At least you get instant replays when watching the Shakey’s V-League on television. You also get to see the Mikasa and other sponsors flash their banners in your TV screen from time to time. The Growling Tigresses won the first set at 25-14.

If La Salle outclassed Ateneo during the last game, this time, it was UST who overpowered the Lady Archers. Although La Salle started strong during the beginning of the second set by leading at the 2-8 mark, UST caught up quickly with their nifty middle attack plays finished off by hard-hitting #12 Venus Bernal. At the end, La Salle committed 3 consecutive errors. UST took the second set at 25-21.

The third set was just a repeat of the last one. It was a see-saw battle up until the 13 all mark. #2 Ma. Angeli Tabaquero provided most of the offense for UST with her wing attacks. At the end, La Salle committed a service that went too strong making it 23-17 with UST on the lead. This was followed by a reception error by La Salle, 24-17. The match ended with another reception error by La Salle’s libero. That’s 3 consecutive errors. UST won, 25-17.

UST triumphed over La Salle in 3 sets: 25-14; 25-21; 25-17.

Maria Angeli Tabaquero of UST was heralded Player of the Game. Oh and that’s another advantage of watching the Shakey’s V-League on television – You get to watch players get interviewed.
